MediEvil: Resurrection Trophy Guide

Welcome to the MediEvil: Resurrection Trophy guide!

4/10 Estimated Difficulty
6 – 8 Estimated Hours to Completion
1 Minimum Playthrough
9 Missable Trophies but can be 0 with a strategic save file

This is a pretty straightforward Trophy list here. The majority of this list is story related. Usually, you’d get Trophies for completing levels. With this list, you’ll get Trophies for starting levels. Some will pop at the end if there is a boss fight, but it’s a little different than the norm.

When playing through the levels, you’re going to want to make sure you collect the Chalices by finding them in the environment and by killing enemies. The more enemies you kill, the more the percentage on the right will increase. You’ll want to get that to 100% before finishing a level. These are required for entering the Hall of Heroes. There are two Health Bottles to be acquired from there. These are needed for the “Dan the Unstoppable” Trophy. This is also where you unlock new weapons if you are not using codes. More on that below.

Missables

There are 9 Trophies that can technically be missed, but this can easily be avoided.

You can replay any of the levels at any time up until you complete the final level. After completing the final level, the game will take you back to the main menu. If you don’t have an in-game save file, you won’t be able to replay levels.

This is easily avoided by making a separate save file before starting the final level in the overworld using the PS backwards compatibility save system. Leave that save file so that you can load it up and jump back in to replay any of the levels you may need.

Cheats

Cheats DO disable Trophies.

At the time of launch, they did not. This has since changed. You are no longer able to use cheats to earn Trophies. Credit to hir in the comments for pointing this out.

Make your own checkpoint

Just like with the previous PS Classics, MediEvil: Resurrection allows you to press Options and rewind gameplay as well as make saves anywhere.

This makes the game incredibly easy to get through. If at any point you die, mess something up or take too much damage. You can press Options to rewind your gameplay and try whatever you did again. You can essentially make this a trial and error system.

There is no punishment for rewinding and it will not disable Trophies. Feel free to make use of this feature as often as you need while playing through the game.

 Chalice of Heroes

Fill and obtain 15 Chalices.

There are two types of Chalices in the game. One that you have to find and collect and another that you need to fill by killing enemies. The meter will be in the top right of the screen. Make sure to fill that meter to 100% in each mission where it is available before exiting. Kill everything you encounter. The only exception is on the Sleeping Village level. You cannot attack any of the human enemy types in order to earn the “Dan the Merciful‘ Trophy. Killing them will actually subtract from your chalice on that level.

Progress through the level until you get the club. Use the club to destroy the boulder that is blocking the story path. Go down the path the boulder was blocking and you’ll come to a circular area with a statue in the middle. Attack the statue and it will turn. As it turns, it will open gates. This Chalice is behind a gate at the top of the area.

Go through the Moon Rune gate and follow the path right. Stop at the next right. There will be a group of enemies here and back in the trees just off the path. This Chalice is straight back through the trees off of the path next to the river. There is also a health vial in front of it.

Advance the mission until you give the pianist the sheet of music. This is part of the story. Grab the Chaos Rune and use it to open the gate below in the basement. Push the flame all the way to the end of the path. Pick up the sheet of music on the left of the Jewel Heart. Take that sheet of music and give it to the pianist and the cage with the Chalice will be opened. It’s important to note that you need to avoid the ray of light in the center of the room when bringing the music to the pianist. If you touch that ray of light, it will trigger the boss battle.

Continue through the level until you come to a fork in the path in front of a locked gate that requires the Star Rune. Go up the path on the right and hit the statue in the middle until it opens the gate holding the Chalice. An enemy will spawn when the gate opens.

At the very beginning of the level, go forward and turn at the first doorway in the wall on your left.

This Chalice is found in the back left corner behind the Mayor’s house. Go behind the gazebo that you need to you use to jump on his roof and you’ll see a cutout in the wall that overlooks the river where the Chalice is.

Continue through the level until you come to the rotating traps. Go left and take the first exit in the first trap. In the second trap, take the second exit on the right and follow the path up to the Chalice.

After cutting the three vines, jump into the well near the opened objective gate.

Jump up on to the hanging platform and it’ll take you up to another section of the level.

Go straight back to the tree with the big mushrooms you can jump on. Jump on the mushrooms all the way up to the top where you can find a nest.

Get in the nest and push the eggs out of the nest. They will break when completely pushed out of the nest to reveal items. Each egg will have an item. One of them is the Chalice.

From the start of the level, head to the docks area just past Death and turn left at the end of the walkway.

Run to the end of the dock and you’ll see the Chalice next to a tree. Jump over to it and grab it.

Progress through the level until you light the second brazier that will unlock three gates. Go through the open gate on the right where a shack is to find a spade. Pick it up.

Progress the level until you go through the Chaos Rune gate. Kill the enemies and then use the spade to dig up the grave with the cross headstone to find this Chalice.

After getting the Dragon Armor from Dragon Island, return to Inside the Asylum. Progress through the level to the point where you get the key at the end. After getting the key, look to your immediate right in that same small room to see another breakable wall. Knock it down and equip the Dragon Armor. Cross the lava and pick up the Chalice on the other side.

After picking up the Crown, equip your Dragon Armor and exit the room where the Crown was. Walk off of the ledge and fall down to the lava below. The Chalice will be down at the bottom in the lava.

Progress through the level until you reach the section with the rotating platforms near the final powder keg. Jump on the middle spinning platform and use it to get in the hanging cage. The cage will take you straight up to the Chalice.

In the center room, use your club on the wall to the left of the rune gate. Enter the room, kill the mummy and then use a spade on the grave to dig up the Chalice.

 Dan the Unstoppable

Acquire 8 Health Bottles.

The first Health Bottle will be in Dan’s Crypt across from your first weapon pick up. It will be very hard to miss.

This Health Bottle is found by going down the path with the red door. At the locked gate, go left and you’ll see a wall that has a few holes in it. Use your club to break down this wall. The bottle is inside.

This bottle is found in the same room where you find the Star Rune (required for story progression).

Continue through the level until you have to cut the vines to open the gate. Go to the back right of the area and head up a path that slopes up. This path is to the right of the rune gate.

Go up the ramp at the top and drop into the hole in the roof.

Run counter clockwise to lower the platform and then go through the door on the left. This bottle can be found in the next room.

Speak to Imanzi and she’ll give you the Health Bottle as long as you’ve been filling the Chalices of Souls from the previous levels.

Progress through the level until you pass through the Chaos Rune gate. Equip your club and use to destroy the boulder on the right across from the graves.

Progress through the level until you come to the rolling barrels. There will be some rolling in front of you from left to right. There is a door where they are rolling right behind them. Enter it and then drop into the hole. You’ll fall onto the platform where the Health Bottle is located.

This will be given to you as long as you have been filling the Chalices of Souls from the previous levels. Speak to Dirk Steadfast on the second floor.

 Testing the Waters

Play all carnival games.

This Trophy description is a little misleading. This doesn’t include just the six games at the Carnival. There are two other games outside of the carnival as well. There are 8 games in total.

The carnival games are found at Gallowmere Plains. There will be a yellow tent that you can enter that will take you to the carnival.

Upon entering the carnival, there will be 6 tents each with their own games.

Outside of the tent, there are two NPCs that have their own games that you must also play in order to earn this.

In order to earn tokens for “Winner Winner,” you’re going to need to complete every challenge of a minigame. That means all 9 challenges.

When you complete the first three, a new tier is unlocked. There are a total of three tiers, or 9 challenges. You will get 1 token for each minigame you fully complete.

The easiest ones I found were:

 Dan the Dragon

Defeat an enemy by breathing fire.

This cannot be done until you have unlocked the Dragon Armor on the Dragon Island level.

Once you have it, equip it and then press the attack buttons to shoot fire. All you have to do is kill an enemy with the fire to earn this.

The Dragon Armor attack seems to be bugged, unfortunately. It’s possible nothing will happen when you press an attack button while wearing it. If this happens, all you can do is try to use it in different levels against different enemy types. Eventually, it will randomly work. I was able to get this done against the three Undead Warriors on top of the wall in the Haunted Ruins level. Just keep trying to use it in different areas until it eventually works.

 Dan the Famished

Eat some Cooked Chicken.

This is earned by killing an enemy with a Chicken Drumstick. When they die, they turn into cooked chickens that will replenish your health. This will pop when you collect the cooked chicken.

You cannot get this at 100% health. If you’re at full health, let an enemy damage you and then kill them with the drumstick.

If you do not have any drumsticks in your inventory, you can pick some up in Dan’s Crypt. Use the Dragon Armor to walk through the lava and follow the path to the drumstick.

 Dan the Scribe

Read Dan’s Journal.

This can be earned at the very beginning of the game.

When you get control of Dan, go into the room on the left where the Health Bottle is. As you enter, look over to the left and interact with the book on the display. This will pop as soon as you open it.

 Dan the Exterminator

Exterminate five rats in the Hilltop Mausoleum basement.

The five rats will be running around in the basement. A majority of the entire level takes place down in the basement, so you should come across these naturally.

Hit them with a weapon to kill them.

 Dan the Invincible

Finish a level outside of Dan’s Crypt and Gallowmere Plains without taking damage.

This can easily be earned by taking advantage of the Rewind feature built into the PS1/PSP Classics. If you take any damage, you can simply rewind the game and try again. This will not disable Trophies.

As you approach an enemy, quickly swing at them before they get too close. You’ll also want to try and take out the enemies one by one. Fighting them in a group can increase the risk of taking damage.

If you have it, you can equip the Woden’s Brand sword. This will one hit most enemies except for bosses.

 Dan the Merciful

Finish the Sleeping Village level without harming the townsfolk.

This is done in the Sleeping Village, not Welcome to Sleeping Village.

In order to earn this, you’re going to need to not attack any of the human type enemies. They’re going to attack you, but you cannot attack them.

The only enemies you can attack are zombies, wolves and the furnace like enemy types. If it looks like a human, do not attack them.

If you happen to accidentally attack a human, use the Rewind feature.
