Welcome to the Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake Collectible Guide!
The first page of this guide will be all of the mini medals, scrolls Zalen quest steps and Erdrick gear found in Dragon Quest I. The second page will cover all of the mini medals found in Dragon Quest II.
Everything listed here is in the order of where the story will take you. It’s not strictly story locations only, though. Some locations will require you to explore around the region you are currently in. But the map is not that big and these are not too difficult to track down.
After collecting all of the medals, you’ll need to turn them all in to the Monarch of Medals. He is found in the southwestern section of the map in the Citadel of the Monarch of the Medals.
Dragon Quest I
Mini Medal 1 – This is found inside of a nightstand next to a bed inside of Roadside Inn. The Inn is found southwest of Erdrick’s Hollow.
Mini Medal 2 – This is found inside of a pot in the secret area that is found southwest of Erdrick’s Hollow and northwest of Roadside Inn. It is along the western coastline.
Mini Medal 3 – This is found in a pot on the pier on the western side of Galenholm. Glaenholm is found in the northwestern most corner of the map.
Safe Passage Scroll – This is found on the bookshelf in the house in the bottom left of Galenholm.
Sandstorm Scroll – This is found in a chest in the center of Erdrick’s Hollow – B1.
Mini Medal 4 – This medal is found in a chest in the bottom left corner of Erdrick’s Hollow – B2.
Mini Medal 5 – This medal is found inside of a barrel in the bottom right corner of the Forgotten Ruins. You can find the ruins just south of the bridge you cross that is east of Wayfarer’s Chapel.
Zalen’s Quest – While at the Forgotten Ruins, speak with Zalen to begin the side quest.
Mini Medal 6 – This is found inside of a pot on the second floor of the shop in Kol.
Mini Medal 7 – This is found inside of a pot in the top left corner of Kol. It is on the right side of the poison puddle.
Mini Medal 8 – This is found inside of a pot inside of the Shrine of Rain – 1F. It is in the western corner next to the descending stairs.
Crack Scroll – This is found in a chest in the eastern corner of Shrine of Rain – 1F.
Zalen’s Quest – Enter the Nameless Ruins and speak to Zalen here to advance the quest.
Mini Medal 9 – This medal is found inside of a chest in the middle of Craggy Cave – B1.
Nose for Treasure Scroll – This scroll is found inside of the chest that is on the upper east side of Craggy Cave – B1.
Muster Strength Scroll – This scroll is found in a chest in Craggy Cave – B2. You can access this chest by going down the stairs in the top left corner of Craggy Cave – B1.
Crackle Scroll – This scroll is found inside of a chest in the building on the west side of Faerie Village. Faerie Village is found southeast of Craggy Cave.
Snub Scroll – This scroll is found on the bookshelf on the right side of the room in the same building as the previous scroll in Faerie Village.
Mini Medal 10 – This medal is found inside of a barrel in the top right building in Faerie Village.
Before advancing the story, we now have the Thieves’ Key. We’re gonna clean up some other areas with red locked doors with mini medals.
Mini Medal 11 – This medal is found inside if a wardrobe in the room with the red door inside of Wayfarer’s Chapel
Mini Medal 12 – This medal is found in a pot in the Grave of Galen – B1. The pot is in a short dead end path slightly northwest from where you entered the dungeon. The Grave of Galen is in Galenholm. You can can access it by going through the building on the north side of town with the red door.
Whistle Scroll – This scroll is found in a chest in the Grave of Galen – B1. It is the left most chest in a line of three in the north room.
Mini Medal 13 – This medal is found inside of a pot in Tantegel Castle – 2F – Secret Room. Enter Tantegel Castle and follow the hallway on the west side of the room. It will go north and then take you to the east of the area. Once on the east side, head south until you come to a stair case that you can take up to access the secret room.
From here, we will continue with the story.
Mini Medal 14 – This is found inside of a barrel in the top right corner of Quagmire Cave – B1.
Mini Medal 15 – This is found inside of a nightstand at the end of a bed inside of the building on the north side of Rimuldar.
Magic Barrier Scroll – This scroll is found inside of a chest in the building in the northwest corner of Rimuldar. You will need to go here as part of the story.
Miracle Slash Scroll – This scroll is found inside of a chest in the top right corner of Cave of the Dwarves – B1. In order to reach it, take the staircase on the on the east side of B1. Then, you’ll be in a small area with 2 other possible exits. For this, you need to take the north stairs. This will take you to the chest.
Mini Medal 16 – This medal is found inside of a chest on the western side of Cave of Dwarves – B2. In order to reach it, take the staircase on the on the east side of B1. Then, you’ll be in a small area with 2 other possible exits. For this, take the left exit. In the next area, take the left side exit again.
Undead Undoer Scroll – This scroll is found in a chest in the north area of Cave of the Dwarves – B2. In order to reach it, take the staircase on the on the east side of B1. Then, you’ll be in a small area with 2 other possible exits. For this, take the left exit. In the next area, take the left side exit again (same area as Mini Medal 16). From there, take the north exit. The next room will only have one other exit, so take it and you’ll reach the north area.
Mini Medal 17 – This medal is found inside of a pot on the lower right side of Damdara. Damdara is found south of Faerie Village in the desert up against the mountains.
Padfoot Scroll – This is scroll is hidden on the ground next to a round table just above the poison pool on the top right in Damdara.
Mini Medal 18 / Demon Demeaner Scroll – Both of these are found inside of the building you can enter in Damdara. The scroll is in the barrel in the top left and the medal is in the pot on the top right.
Mini Medal 19 – This is found inside of the secret spot that is southwest of Damdara. It is in the patch of forest that is south of the desert up against the mountains. The medal is hidden on the ground to the right of the bandit NPC. It is almost between the trees in the middle of the area.
Reheal Scroll – This is scroll is found in the red chest on the left side of the Citadel of the Monarch of Medals. This location is found southeast from the Field of Flowers.
After getting the Magic Key as part of the story, we’ll now be able to open blue chests and blue doors.
Zalen’s Quest – Stop by Damdara again and speak to Zalen here to advance the quest.
Mini Medal 20 – This is found in a nightstand next to the bed behind the NPC that gives you the sun stone in Tantegel. Go through Tantegel Castle and exit to the backside of the castle. Then, follow the area to the south to some stairs. Take the stairs down and then speak with the NPC in the room. Afterwards, you can grab the medal from the drawer.
Mini Medal 21 – This is found inside of Sanctum. Sanctum is located south of the Cave of the Dwarves. Once you enter, go to the back of the building in front of the big window in the center and interact with the ground to find this hidden mini medal.
Mini Medal 22 – This is found in a chest in Quagmire Cave – B2. You can reach this floor by going through the blue door in Quagmire Cave. The chest is in the top left part of the floor.
Mini Medal 23 – This medal is found in the chest on the east side of Weirdwood after the illusion has been lifted as part of the story.
Focus Pocus Scroll – This scroll is found in the chest that is in the middle of the second part of Weirdwood.
To avoid having to go back through Weirdwood, exit to the north and head east to Wayfarer’s Inn to get it marked on your map so that you can fast travel here to continue the story after turning in the Undying Flame to Faerie Village.
Mini Medal #24 – This is found down the well in Wayfarer’s Inn. It is hidden on the ground in the center of the rock formation toward the bottom of the area.
Moreheal Scroll – This scroll is found on the second bookshelf to the right in the house on the west side of town in the middle of Cantlin. It is in the top left room on the second floor.
Attack Attacker Scroll – This scroll is found in the wardrobe on the left side of the room on the right of the second floor in the same building as the Moreheal Scroll.
Mini Medal 25 – This medal is found hidden in the ground up against the right gravestone in the middle east side of Cantlin.
Mini Medal 26 – This medal is found in the red chest in the secret spot south of Weeping Isle. This spot is in the middle of the winding desert path on the way to Weeping Isle.
Mini Medal 27 – This medal is found in a chest in the top left corner of the map in Weeping Isle – L1.
Mini Medal 28 – This medal is found in a chest in the bottom right corner of Weeping Isle – L2.
Kacrack Scroll – Make your way through the Weeping Isle until you are in an outside area (Weeping Isle – Exterior). In that area, take the first door on the left. Continue following the path and you’ll make it back outside again. This scroll is found in the red chest at the end of the next exterior pathway.
After getting the Ultimate Key as part of the story, there are a few areas we can now clean up for some collectibles.
Mini Medal 29 – This medal is found in a pot in the cell on the second floor of the church in Tantegel. The Ultimate Key can open the cell.
Snoop Scroll – This is found in Tantegel Castle – 1F in the middle left room. There are four chests behind a locked door that can be opened with the Ultimate Key.
Mini Medal 30 – This is found in the middle locked chest on the left side of the room in the CItadel of the Monarch of Medals.
Mini Medal 31 – This is found in the chest on the west side of Cave of the Dwarves – B1 behind the locked door.
Mini Medal 32 – This is found in the chest in the house on the top right side of Cantlin. It is on the second floor.
Erdrick’s Shield – This is found in a chest in the same exact spot where the Kacrack Scroll was found (Weeping Isle – Exterior). You now have the key to open the chest.
Zalen’s Quest – Enter Cantlin and speak to Zalen here to advance the quest. He is on the bridge in the southern part of town.
Kacrackle Slash Scroll – This is found in a chest in the top left corner of Grave of Galen – B3. Take the stairs in the bottom right corner on B2.
Mini Medal 33 – This is a hidden medal in front of the big statue on Grave of Galen – B3. Take the stairs in the bottom left corner on B2.
Zalen’s Quest – Enter Galenholm and speak to Zalen here to advance the quest. He is on the beach on the southeast part of town.
Mini Medal 34 – This is in a barrel behind the staircase that you enter the floor from in Shrine of Rain – 3F.
Mini Medal 35 – This medal is found in the chest in the center of Shrine of Rain – 5F. It is on the west side of the middle platform. You can grab this one after the boss fight and following cutscenes.
After the events at the Shrine of Rain, there are 2 new secret spots to find that have Mini Medals.
Mini Medal 36 – This mini medal is found in the new secret spot that is northwest from Faerie Village. It is in the forest just before the mountain range. It is inside of a barrel in the secret spot.
Mini Medal 37 – This mini medal is found in the new secret spot that is southeast from Damdara. You’ll need to cross the bridge that is southeast from Damdara as well in order to reach it. It is in the forest just north of the other side of that bridge. In the secret spot, the medal can be found in the bag hanging from the tree.
Mini Medal 38 – This medal is hidden in the ground in the Shrine of the Spirit – 1F. It is in the top left corner of the floor.
Mark of Erdrick – This will be automatically earned by beating Armageddon in the Shrine of the Spirit as part of the story.
Zalen Quest – Travel to the Field of Flowers and speak with the Faerie.
Travel to the Shrine of Rain and speak with the Dream-Whisperer. She will transport you to the Western Isle.
Erdrick’s Helm – This will be right in front of you as soon as you regain control on Western Isle.
Mini Medal 39 – This medal is hidden on the ground at the end of the northern pier on Western Isle.
Zalen Quest – After leaving Western Isle, travel to Rimuldar and speak with Zalen to complete his side quest.
Erdrick’s Armor – This is earned by beating the knight aberrant in Damdara. He can be found over on the eastern middle area of Damdara. After the fight, interact with the sparkling tree to receive the armor.
Mini Medal 40 – Go behind the throne in Dragonlord’s Castle – 1F and interact with the back of it to reveal a new staircase. Go down it and make your way to B4. Once there, go down the staircase in the middle of the area to go down to B5. From there, go north to the chest where the final medal can be found.
Erdrick’s Sword – From Dragonlord’s Castle – B4, take the middle left staircase up to B3 where you’ll be in the center area of the floor. Head to the next staircase on this center area. Follow the path to B1 and the sword will be sticking out of the ground on the path.
Dealing with the Devil – When speaking to Dragonlord, he will offer you the chance to join him. In order to earn this Trophy, you’ll need to say, “Yes,” when he offers you the chance. Don’t worry. You aren’t choosing a bad or wrong ending. It will just turn out to be a dream and you will wake up. You can then return and fight him to finish the game.
Turn in all of your medals to the Monarch of Medals in the Citadel of the Monarch of Medals.
Wild Side Scroll – Turn in 10 medals to Monarch of Medals.
Meditation Scroll – Turn in 35 medals to the Monarch of Medals.
