Once you reach the first shrine in chapter 3, you’ll need to use it to travel back to Black Wind Mountain > Bamboo Grove > Marsh of White Mist. Once there, go speak with Shen Monkey and buy the following items:
- Jade Lotus Gourd
- Awaken Wine Worm
- Luojia Fragrant Vine
- Thunderbolt Horn Soak
Frost Clad Path
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Frozen Corpse
This enemy will be on the path shortly after leaving the shrine.

This enemy will be on the path shortly after the first fight against the Macaque Chief.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Mountain Patroller Spirit
This enemy will be on the path shortly after the first fight against the Macaque Chief. After going up wooden stairs, go straight over to the other side and then down some stairs. This is before you go right to continue the chapter.
Mirrormere
- [MEDITATION POINT] The Shade, Mirrormere
From the Mirrormere Shrine, head toward the lake. This point is just to the left of a big tree in front of the lake on a small wooden platform.
- [CURIO] Mani Bead
This is dropped by killing a random enemy. For me, this dropped to the left of the previous Meditation Point by a chest along the lake.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Kang-Jin Loong
This is an unmissable boss fight on the frozen lake.
- [ARMOR] Loongscale Set
This set can be crafted after beating Kang-Jin Loong.
- [WEAPON] Kang-Jin Staff
This can be crafted after beating Kang-Jin Loong.
Lower Pagoda
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Lantern Warden
These enemies will be on your path through out the Lower Pagoda.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Yaksha Archer
These enemies will be on your path through out the Lower Pagoda.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Starved Abomination
These enemies will be on your path through out the Lower Pagoda.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Blade Monk
These enemies will be on your path through out the Lower Pagoda.
- [CURIO] Auspicious Lantern
This is missable. You will need to kill every Lantern Warden enemy in the Pagoda in order to get this Curio. There are 9 of them. You will need to do this before killing the Captain Wise-Voice boss. Otherwise, this will be missed. 1 and 2 are found before reaching the Lower Pagoda Shrine. 3 and 4 are on the first level after the shrine. 5 is before the Upper Pagoda Shrine. 6, 7 and 8 are on the floor above the Upper Pagoda. For the last one, you’ll need to climb out of the Pagoda at the very top. Before heading toward the Mani Wheel shrine, go the opposite way. There will be a platform with statues on it. When you get near it, an enemy will spawn. Just to the right of that platform is a ledge you can drop down. Drop back down into the Pagoda and follow the path to the 9th and final enemy. You’ll get the Curio upon killing the 9th enemy.
- [CURIO] Fine China Tea Bowl
This is found in a small box on a table at the end of the Lower Pagoda pathway. When you come to the stairs, don’t go up them yet. Instead, go straight back to find this Curio.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Enslaved Yaksha
These enemies will be on your path through out the Lower Pagoda.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Red-Haired Yaksha
This enemy can be found on the your path to the Upper Pagoda.
Upper Pagoda
- [SIDE QUEST] Prisoner [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Captain Lotus-Vision / [CURIO] Frostsprout Twig / The Spirit of Captain Lotus-Vision
From the Upper Pagoda Shrine, turn around and look down into the big hole in the hallway you just came through. Drop down on to the roof below and then drop down to the ground to find this boss. You’ll automatically get the Frostsprout Twig as well as The Spirit of Captain Lotus-Vision key item. Now that you have that key item, you can go back through the Pagoda and unlock the cells that had a purple glow to them. Killing this boss is part of a side quest for an NPC that is locked in a cell that was next yours in the Lower Pagoda. There are 3 more steps needed to complete that quest.
- [SPIRIT] Enslaved Yaksha
After getting the The Spirit of Captain Lotus-Vision, go back to the middle level of the Pagoda to find this enemy locked in a cell. Open the cell door and beat it.
- [SPIRIT] Fungiman
Cross over the wooden plank after the Upper Pagoda Shrine and take the first left. Inside, there will be a mushroom sticking up from the ground. Interact with it to spawn the enemy.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Falcon Fan-Maker
When you climb up the final wooden beam to get out of the Pagoda, go to your right and head straight for the group of statues. This enemy will spawn there when you get close.
Mani Wheel
- [SOAK] Stranded Loong’s Whisker
Fast travel to the Mirrormere Shrine. This is found in a turtle shaped box in the far back right corner of the frozen lake. Head out onto the lake on the right side and keep going until you come to this box.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Captain Wise-Voice / [SIDE QUEST] Prisoner
Return to the Mani Wheel Shrine. This boss will be on the story path after getting out of the Pagoda. Defeating this boss will also get you a spirit needed for the side quest for the NPC in the Lower Pagoda. Make sure you have killed all of the Lantern Wardens in the Pagoda before this boss fight or else you will have missed the Auspicious Lantern Curio.
Outside the Wheel
- Awaken Wine Worm / [SPIRIT] Blade Monk
From the Outside the Wheel Shrine, go left back toward the boss arena and then go right once outside. Follow the path along the cliff to the very end where a chest can be found. If you go over to the cliff edge and look down, you can see a ledge down below that you can drop to. Drop to it and then look down to find another ledge you can drop to. Do that one more time to drop down a third time. Follow this path all the way to the end. The Spirit enemy will be right in front of a gold glowing pot. Break the pot to collect the Wine Worm.
- Luojia Fragrant Vine
From the Outside the Wheel Shrine, head into the cave on the right and then look over to the left to see this Vine on a glowing tree.
- Celestial Taiyi Pill
This will be on your path shortly after exiting the cave near the Outside the Wheel Shrine. It’ll be on your right.
- [MEDITATION POINT] The Bottom, Pagoda Realm
Break the fence behind the previous Celestial Taiyi Pill and follow the path to a hidden area where this Meditation Point can be found.
Snow-Veiled Trail
- [SPIRIT] Falcon Hermit
From the Snow-Veiled Trail Shrine, head up the path and go left at the split. From there, just keep heading straight. Keep going until you come across this enemy. It’s a bit of walk from the shrine.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Golden Lotus Guai
This enemy will be on your path to the previous Spirit.
Warding Temple
- [SPELL] Ring of Fire / [SIDE QUEST] Old Man
This will be automatically given to you after the boss against the Macaque Chief. This will also count as an encounter with the Old Man.
Turtle Island
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Kang-Jin Star
This boss will be on the story path. Unmissable.
- Celestial Jade Lotus Pill
From the Turtle Island Shrine, look left and head straight down the slope. Keep going until you drop down to a lower level path. This Pill will be on a table on that path.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Cyan Loong / [SOAK] Breath of Fire
From the Turtle Island Shrine, look right and head straight. Go down the slope and you’ll see a statue down in the distance. As you approach that statue, the boss will spawn from it. The Soak will be in a chest that spawns after the boss fight.
- [WEAPON] Golden Loong Staff
This weapon can be crafted as an upgrade to the Loongwreathe Staff after defeating the Cyan Loong boss.
North Shore of the Bitter Lake
- [SIDE QUEST] Chen Loong
From the North Shore of the Bitter Lake Shrine, turn around and face the lake. Go slight right and follow the shore over to a house. Chen Loong will be out in the water next to that house. Fight him to begin the side quest. Speak to him after the fight.
Step 2: Return to the shrine and fast travel to Yellow Wind Ridge > Crouching Tiger Temple > Cellar. Once there, speak to Xu Dog and choose the “Talk” option. If he doesn’t mention Chen Loong, choose “Talk” again until he does. He will give you the “Special-made-Bone-Strengthening Pellet.”
Step 3: Fast travel back to the North Shore of the Bitter Lake Shrine and return to Chen Loong to deliver the Pellet. Once you deliver it, the quest will be completed. You will also be automatically transported to a secret area, Zodiac Village. You’ll be able to upgrade your armor here as well as earn a couple of Trophies.
Zodiac Village
- Speak to Xu Dog and choose the “Talk” option. Afterwards, you’ll have a “Request Medicine” option. Select it to receive some powerful medicines.
- Interact with Chen Loong and choose to “Deliver Seeds” if you have any to give him some. These are random drops from defeating enemies. Then, come back later on in the game to harvest what has grown to earn the Happy Harvest Trophy. Make sure that you bring one of every seed to Chen Loong. He will give you the Graceful Orchid Soak for doing so.
- Speak to the Blacksmith and upgrade any piece of armor to earn the Pound and Perfect Trophy.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Chen Loong
This will be added after giving Chen Loong some seeds.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Yin Tiger / [SPELL] Ebon Flow
Speak to the blacksmith and challenge him to a fight. You’ll need to beat him in order to add his entry. You’ll automatically be given the Ebon Flow spell once you defeat Yin Tiger.
- [ARMOR] Iron Set
This set can be crafted after challenging Yin Tiger to a fight and beating him.
- [SOAK] Graceful Orchid
In order to get this, you’re going to need to bring every seed to Chen Loong. You won’t have them all yet as there are more chapters ahead, but make sure to always pick plants when you see them. Return to Chen Loong when you have them all.

North Shore of the Bitter Lake
- [SIDE QUEST] Treasure Hunter
From the North Shore of the Bitter Lake Shrine, turn around and face the lake. Go slight right and follow the shore over to a house. Go through the big gate to the right of the house and head for the temple. When you get there, there will be 3 enemies attacking an NPC. Kill the enemies and then speak to the NPC to begin this quest.
- [DRINK] Bluebridge Romance
This is found in the small lake to the left of the temple where you met the Treasure Hunter NPC for his side quest.
- Luojia Fragrant Vine
From the shrine, go to the right along the shore where the skeletons are. Keep going that way until you come to a path on the left marked by 2 torches. Go up that left path and follow it to the top of the big stone staircase. At the top, take the first immediate left into a smaller area where this vine can be found wrapped around a tree.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Cyan Bat
This enemy will be on the path to the previous Luojia Fragrant Vine.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Wolf Guardian
This enemy will be on the path to the previous Luojia Fragrant Vine.
- [SIDE QUEST] Turtle’s Tear / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Apramana Bat
From the shrine, go to the right along the shore where the skeletons are. Keep going that way until you come to a snake skeleton that makes a ring. Go through the ring and into the area. Keep going forward until the Apramana Bat boss spawns. Once you beat it, go over and interact with the skull in the boss arena. A cutscene will play. Afterwards, head back to the shore near the shrine and pick up the Turtle’s Tear. It will be glowing green on the shore under the turtle’s head.
The Apramana Bat Spirit is missable. You need to kill this enemy before completing the chapter. You will receive the spirit at the end of Chapter 3 if you killed the bat before finishing the chapter.

This will be added to your journal after interact with the skull for the Turtle’s Tear side quest.
Precept Corridor
- [MEDICINE FORMULA] Enhanced Tiger Subduing Pellets
When facing the Precept Corridor Shrine, go to the right. This can be found in a small box at the bottom of hill.
- [MEDITATION POINT] The Statue, Precept Corridor
This will be on the path just after the shrine. It will be on the left next to some enemies.
- [SPIRIT] Red-Haired Yaksha
This enemy will be on the story path.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Censor Holder
You’ll encounter these enemies when looking for the Buddha statues as part of the story.
Mindfulness Cliff
- [GOURD] Fiery Gourd
From the Mindfulness Cliff Shrine, take just a few steps and stop when you reach the planks on the ground that you need to cross. At those planks, look over the cliff to the right and down. Drop down there and follow this path all the way around. You will eventually come to a room with a chest that has this Gourd in it.
- [KEY ITEM] Skandha of Thought
This item will be on the path ahead of you shortly after picking up the Fiery Gourd.
- [CURIO] Maitreya’s Orb
This is found in a box on a table on the left side of a room that you need to pass through after fighting Non-White for the first time.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Non-White / Spirit
This is an unmissable story related boss.
- [MEDITATION POINT] The Track, Mindfulness Cliff
This will be in the boss arena where you fight Non-White for the second time.
Forest of Felicity
- [SPIRIT] Crow Diviner
From the shrine, there will be a small gate on the left. Go down the path slightly right of that gate. Head down the hill and keep going down until you reach the bottom where there will be a lake. This enemy is in the lake at the very bottom near a waterfall.
- [SIDE QUEST] Fox
From the shrine, go over to the gate on the left. Interact with the body leaning up against the gate three times. Afterwards, you’ll be given the Snow Fox Brush which will begin this side quest.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Lang-Li-Guhh-Lang
From the shrine, go through the gate on the left. Take a left a few steps after the gate. The path is sort of hidden but it is just after passing through the gate. Once through there, go left. Go to straight back to the frozen lake where this boss will be waiting.
- [SIDE QUEST] Treasure Hunter
From the shrine, go through the gate on the left. Take a left a few steps after the gate. The path is sort of hidden but it is just after passing through the gate. Once through there, go right. Now, just follow this path straight. Shortly after passing the lake on the left, the Treasure Hunter will be up ahead on the left sitting on a tree asking for fire. This is just before reaching the Towers of Karma Shrine. Use the Ring of Fire spell in front of him and then speak to him for the next clue in the quest. You can switch spells at the shrine if needed.

You’ll encounter this enemy as you make your way toward the Towers of Karma Shrine.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Dual-Blade Monk
This enemy can be found directly left of the Towers of Karma Shrine.
- [SIDE QUEST] Treasure Hunter / [SPELL] Spell Binder / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Green-Capped Martialist
Fast travel back to the Forest of Felicity. From the shrine, there will be a small gate on the left. Go down the path slightly right of that gate. Head down the hill and keep going down until you reach the bottom where there will be a lake. At the bottom, cross over the small wooden bridge and then follow the path as it heads left all the way to the cliff’s edge. There will be two burning torches at the cliff’s edge. Drop down that edge until you reach the ledge with a torch. From there, cross over the big fallen tree. Make your way all the way down to the bottom. The Melon Field Shrine will be right where you land. Head inside of the cave to fight the Green-Capped Martialist. After the fight, you will be given the Spell Binder spell which will complete this quest.
From the Forest of Felicity Shrine, head over to the right side of the forest to find the Brook of Bliss Shrine.

This enemy will be on the path to the Brook of Bliss Shrine.
Brook of Bliss
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Non-Able / [SPIRIT]
From the shrine, go up the stone stairs to the right. Then follow the path up the hill to your immediate left. Go straight up until you come to the base of the tall tower in the distance which is where the boss will be waiting.
Towers of Karma
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Old Ginseng Guai / [SPIRIT] / [ARMOR] Ginseng Cape
From the shrine, head left and follow the path to the very back where you can see a stone pillar standing up. Head for that pillar. Interact with the ginseng plant in the middle of the area to spawn this boss. You’ll get the armor piece for defeating the boss.
- [DRINK] Jade Essence
This is on a table behind the stone pillar where you fought the Old Ginseng Guai.
- [CURIO] Beast Buddha
This is randomly dropped by killing the Dual-Blade Monk enemy types. There is one directly left of the Towers of Karma Shrine that you can farm for this. Rest at the shrine, kill the enemy and then repeat until it drops.
Longevity Road
- [SIDE QUEST] Prisoner / [KEY ITEM] The Spirit of Captain Void-Illusion / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT]
From the shrine and gate, look right and go straight that way until you come to a giant body laying on the ground. Interact with the hands of the body to pick up this item.
- Awaken Wine Worm
From the shrine, look left and head straight in that direction. Go down the slope and keep going straight until you come to a glowing pot up on a ledge. Go around the little cliff it’s on to reach it. This is in the pot.
- Luojia Fragrant Vine
From the shrine, look left and head straight in that direction. Go down the slope and keep going straight until you come to small open area where 2 Falcon Fan-Maker enemies spawn. This will be wrapped around a tree behind those 2 enemies. This area is past the previous Wine Worm.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Turtle Treasure
This enemy will be near the previous Wine Worm.
- [ARMOR] Skull of Turtle Treasure
This armor piece is randomly dropped by killing Turtle Treasure enemies.
- [CURIO] Bronze Buddha Pendant
This is randomly dropped by killing the Wolf Guardian enemy types. There are two that spawn near the Longevity Road Shrine that you can farm. From the shrine, turn around and run straight down the path until you come to a big gate. When you go through the gate, the two Wolf Guardians will drop down from the top of the gate. You can run back to the shrine, rest and then return to the gate to try again. This will eventually drop.
- [CURIO] Gold Spikeplate / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Dark-faced Overlord
From the shrine, go forward toward the statues. Take the left path and follow it until the path splits. Go right and there will be a giant enemy. Kill it to get this Curio.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Captain Kalpa-Wave / [SPIRIT] / [SIDE QUEST] Prisoner
From the shrine, head forward and follow the path and it will lead you to an unmissable boss fight against Captain Kalpa-Wave. Absorb his spirit afterwards. This is also the last enemy needed for the Prisoner side quest in the Lower Pagoda.
Temple Entrance
- [SIDE QUEST] Prisoner / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] The Third Prince / [SPELL] Ashen Slumber
Once you reach the shrine, use it to fast travel to the Lower Pagoda and return to the prisoner near the cell you began in to turn and finish this quest. If you haven’t already, interact with the weapon sticking out of the body to acquire the Ashen Slumber.
If the body is not in the same cell as the Captain, you can get the Ashen Slumber somewhere else. You will need to go speak with the NPCs trapped in the house in the small village near the Village Entrance in Sandgate Village. This is detailed in Chapter 2. Once you have done that, travel to the Upper Pagoda and then go down one level. While going down the ramp, head straight forward at the bottom and you’ll eventually come to a boss fight against a two headed rat enemy. Pick up the sword after the fight to get this spell.
- [WEAPON] Chu-Bai Spear
This can be crafted after finishing the Prisoner side quest.
- [CURIO] Thunderflame Seal
From the shrine, head forward into a building straight ahead. Exit that building and there will be four enemies shooting electricity at you from some stairs. You can farm these enemies until one of them drops this Curio.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Overseeing Monk
This enemy type will be found throughout the temple.
- [ARMOR] See No Evil
This is randomly dropped by killing Overseeing Monk enemies.
- [CURIO] Thunder Stone
From the shrine, head forward into a building straight ahead. Exit that building and there will be four enemies shooting electricity at you from some stairs. Go up either of the two staircases and then enter the temple building at the top. This Curio is found in a small box on the back side of the statues inside of that temple building.
- [SOAK] Sweet Ice
From the shrine, head forward into a building straight ahead. Exit that building and there will be four enemies shooting electricity at you from some stairs. Go up the stairs on the right side. At the top, take the stairs that go down on the right. Go through the building at the bottom of the stairs. There will be a Clay Vajra enemy ahead of you on the other side. Go up the stairs behind it, go right and then another right down a small set of stairs. This Soak will be in a golden turtle box at the end of that path.

These enemies will be found on your path through the temple.
- [ARMOR] Vajra Armguard
This is randomly dropped by killing Clay Vajra enemies.
- [SPELL] Hoarfrost / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Monk from the Sea
From the shrine, look to your right to see a pathway through a red wall. Go that way and follow that path up some stairs. At the top of the stairs, go forward a bit and then turn left to go through an open gateway. Once through that, head to the top left corner where there is a small statue. When you approach the statue, the boss will spawn out of it. If you reach the enemies that are punching the tree, you’ve gone too far.
- [SIDE QUEST] Dark Thunder Spell / [MEDICINE FORMULA] Body-Fleeting Powder / Celestial Nonary Pill / Horse Guai
From the shrine, head forward into a building straight ahead. Exit that building and there will be four enemies shooting electricity at you from some stairs. Go up the stairs on the left and then take the stairs on the left that go down. Go into the temple ahead and go to the right side to find a staircase that goes up inside of the temple. As you exit the stairs, go through the open doors. There will be two electricity enemies on the right. Don’t go that way. Instead, go left and there will be a big wooden bridge. The horse Guai is found at the end of that bridge. Speak to him and exhaust the dialogue. The formula is in a nearby box right next to the horse guai.
When you’re done with the horse guai and Formula, jump over the wall of that wooden bridge where the horse is and head straight. There will be a small frozen pond straight ahead. This pill is found on that frozen pond.
- [SIDE QUEST] Fox / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Non-Void / [SPIRIT]
From the shrine, head forward into a building straight ahead. Exit that building and there will be four enemies shooting electricity at you from some stairs. Go up the stairs on the left and then take the stairs on the left that go down. Go into the temple ahead and go to the right side to find a staircase that goes up inside of the temple. On the top floor, make your way through until you come to an open door on the right that leads to a bridge. Cross that bridge and go up the stairs ahead. Stop before entering the next temple. Go into your inventory and use the Snow Fox Brush to transform into the fox. Once you’ve done that, then go inside of the temple. A cutscene will begin when you enter as the fox. After the scene, it will be time to fight the Non-Void boss.

After beating the Non-Void boss, fast travel back to the Forest of Felicity and interact with the body that gave you the quest to complete it.
- [SPIRIT] Clay Vajra
From the shrine, head forward into a building straight ahead. Exit that building and there will be four enemies shooting electricity at you from some stairs. Go up the stairs and continue forward. This enemy will be waiting on the story path.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Non-Pure / [SPIRIT]
From the shrine, head forward into a building straight ahead. Exit that building and there will be four enemies shooting electricity at you from some stairs. Go up the stairs and continue forward. keep going forward until you come to an area with 2 giant Dark-faced Overlord enemies. From there, go into the temple on the right. This boss will be waiting inside.
- [MEDITATION POINT] The Hall, New Thunderclap Temple
This point is in the same room where you fought Non-Pure.
