As soon as you enter the first door after the shrine, go to your immediate right to enter a small house. This is in a glowing pot in the small house.

This is found straight ahead of you in the next area after The Second Sister.
- [SPIRIT] Lantern Holder
After The Second Sister boss fight, drop down the hole and then activate the next shrine. Fast travel back to Estate of the Zhu. From there, go back to where you fought The Second Sister and this enemy will be waiting for you there.
Upper Hollow
- [CURIO] Spine in the Sack
This is dropped randomly by destroying cocoons throughout the Webbed Hollow. Make sure to destroy these whenever you come across them.
- [KEY ITEM] Rice Cocoons
This is dropped randomly by destroying cocoons throughout the Webbed Hollow. Make sure to destroy these whenever you come across them. You will need 3 of them for a side quest.
- [CURIO] Cuo Jin-Yin Belt Hook
From the Upper Hollow Shrine, turn around and go to where you originally dropped down and go to the chest over to the side. This is in the chest.
- [SOAK] Goji Shoots
From the shrine, go left and then take another quick left up some stairs. Follow this path until you enter a house. This Soak will be in the house in a small container.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Minor Amourworm
These enemies can be found further down the path from the Goji Shoots Soak in an area full of cocoons.
- [SPIRIT] Beetle Captain
As you make your way to the Verdure Bridge through the area full cocoons, you’ll come to a stretch that leads to a ramp that goes down with roots coming through it. There is a side area in that hallway on the right that has this enemy standing in front of a chest. If you get to the small ramp that leads down with roots, you’ve gone too far.
Pool of Shattered Jade
To reach this shrine, start at the Upper Hollow Shrine. Go up the stairs to the left of the shrine. Follow that path straight toward the area with cocoons. There will be planks of wood ahead of you with a burning torch next to them. Go to those and drop down. After that, drop down the right side again. Make your way through the hanging cocoons. There will be a torch burning on the other side of the hanging cocoons that marks the way. Exit that area and head straight up the path. There will be an archer ahead of you. Keep going forward and you’ll be taken into another cave area with more hanging cocoons. Go through those and follow this next path straight and follow it as it winds up. There will be a scorpion enemy on this path. Jump up the rocks at the end of the path past the scorpion enemy. At the top, follow the path to the right and it will lead straight to the shrine.
- [MEDITATION POINT] The Carvings, Pool of Shattered Jade
This is in a small pool of water near the shrine.
- [SIDE QUEST] Venom Daiost / [ARMOR] Venomous Armguard
From the shrine, take the path to the right and follow it through the hanging cocoons. Go until you come to a lone bigger cocoon hanging. Attack it and the boss will spawn. During the fight, focus your attacks on his back. You need to break off 4 of his arms in order to get Venomous Armguard armor piece. Don’t attack him to much, you need him to have some health so you can attack his back. Immobilize is helpful here. You can also use Cloud Step to get behind him without him knowing. Beat this boss and then it will run away. You’ll need to track it down later in the chapter.
MISSABLE You’ll fight him later in the chapter again, but it is unconfirmed if it is possible to get the armor in the second fight. You can back up your save to the PS+ cloud and turn auto cloud upload saves off on PSN before this fight if needed. If you kill him without cutting off his arms, you’ll miss this armor piece and you’ll need to try again on New Game +.
The Verdure Bridge
- [GOURD] Xiang River Goddess Gourd / [SOAK] Purple-Veined Peach Pit / [MEDICINE FORMULA] Enhanced Ginseng Pellets
From the Verdure Bridge Shrine, go down the path that is slightly left of the shrine. Take the left path at the split and you’ll come to doorway where a cutscene will play. After the cutscene, go into the doorway the talking lanterns were hanging in front of and you’ll be in a room with 5 chests. The Gourd, Soak and Formula are in the chests.
- [SPIRIT] Puppet Spider
From the Verdure Bridge Shrine, go down the path on the left. There will be a small split in the next area, go down the right one. Spiders will spawn as you enter. Drop down the ledge where the wooden planks are next to a flying archer enemy type. Drop down again and then head right. Just past the enemy on the path ahead is a hidden side room with a lot of hanging cocoons on the left. The area will be brightly lit. This enemy is behind the hanging the cocoons.
- [SIDE QUEST] Rice Cocoons / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Elder Amourworm / [SPIRIT]
From the Verdure Bridge Shrine, go down the path that is slightly left of the shrine. Take the left path at the split and go to where the talking lanterns were. Enter the room with the 5 chests and then take the exit in the back of that room. From there, you’ll come to an optional boss, Elder Amourworm. Kill this boss to get the Proto-Amourworm Key Item. Once you have this, travel to the Zodiac Village (detailed in Chapter 2). Give the Proto-Amourworm to Chen Loong. Once you have 3 Rice Cocoons, return to the Zodiac Village and feed the cocoons to the worm. The worm will be next to where the pots are with your seeds. Once you’ve fed all three, rest and then go back to the worm in the pot to get the spirit.
- [SPIRIT] Scorpion Prince / [SOAK] Deathstinger / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Scorpion Prince / [MEDICINE FORMULA] Mirage Pill
From the Verdure Bridge Shrine, go down the path that is slightly left of the shrine. Take the left path at the split and go to where the talking lanterns were. Go to the right of that doorway and drop down over the edge. At the bottom, go left and you’ll come to a small area of buildings. The Scorpion Prince will be walking around the area with the buildings. Killing Scorpion Prince will drop the Deathstinger Soak. The Mirage Pill Formula is up the stairs in the small village. This can be found on the porch of a house on the right at the top of the stairs.
- Luojia Fragrant Vine
This is found wrapped around a tree in the middle of the area where you fought the Scorpion Prince.
- [DRINKS] Worryfree Brew
From the area where you fought the Scorpion Prince, go up the stairs on the left side of the buildings. Continue until you go up a short wooden bridge. Go into the small hut on your immediate left to find this Drink over a fire.
- [SIDE QUEST] Purple Seals
This side quest can be missed if it is not completed before killing the final boss of the chapter. From the area where you fought the Scorpion Prince, go up the stairs on the left side of the buildings. Continue until you go up a short wooden bridge. Go straight back to a pillar that has a purple glow around it. A cutscene will play as you get near it. Afterwards, pick up the seal from the pillar. This is also the same area as the Worryfree Brew.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Clawed Cocoon
You’ll come across these enemies as you make your way through the Webbed Hollow.
Middle Hollow
- [MEDITATION POINT] The Tree, Middle of the Hollow
From the shrine, turn around and go in the opposite direction to find this Meditation Point nearby on the edge of a cliff.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Centipede Guai / Spirit
From the shrine, go right. Drop down the ledges and follow the next path straight forward. At the end of that path will be a circular area with a pile of bones in the middle. Drop down to the pile of bones to initiate this boss fight.
- [SIDE QUEST] Dark Thunder Spell / Horse Guai
From where you fought the Centipede Guai, follow the exit path from the boss arena. Keep following this cave path and you will eventually come to another section that has a lot of cocoons. The horse Guai will be inside of the big cocoon at the start of the area. It will be one of the first cocoons you see. It’s bigger than the rest. Break it open and exhaust his dialogue.
Cliff of Oblivion
- [SIDE QUEST] Purple Seals
This is to the immediate right of the shrine. Grab the seal off of the altar.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Buddha’s Right Hand / [KEY ITEM]
This boss will be on your story path shortly after the shrine. Buddha’s Right Hand will be automatically acquired.
- Celestial Taiyi Pill
After beating the Buddha’s Right Hand boss, go down the arm and then take the immediate left. Do this before dropping down. Follow the path up to this Pill.
- Luojia Fragrant Vine
After beating the Buddha’s Right Hand boss, go down the arm and follow the path as it drops you down further below. When you get to an area where the path goes right, there will be wooden planks on the ground to your left. Look that way and you’ll see a bridge. Drop down and cross that long bridge. Follow the path on the other side of the bridge until you come to an area with hanging cocoons. Use Cloud Step here and then run on a rope to cross the gap straight forward. This will be on the other side on a tree straight ahead of you. Continue following this path and you’ll come to the Relief of the Fallen Loong Shrine.
Relief of the Fallen Loong
- [SIDE QUEST] Purple Seals
From the shrine, enter the cave on the left side of the area. At the top of the hill with all the logs. Follow the path inside on the left as it winds around and up a hill where an archer is shooting at you. As you get to the top of that hill, go between the 2 burning torches and you’ll see this seal ahead of you.
- [SPIRIT] Puppet Tick
From the shrine, enter the cave on the left side of the area. At the top of the hill with all the logs. As you enter the cave, take the path on the right and follow it until you come to this enemy.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Yellow Loong / [CURIO] Golden Carp / [SPELL] Golden Lining
The Yellow Loong boss is found to the right of the shrine very close by. You’ll be automatically given the Golden Carp after the battle. Interact with Yellow Loong’s weapon and you’ll receive the Golden Lining afterwards as well. He will only spawn if you beat the previous 3 Loong bosses.
Lower Hollow
- [MEDITATION POINT] Cave Depths, Lower Hollow
From the shrine, take the path left. Go through the hanging cocoons until you reach the three enemies that shoot webs at you. At about that spot, look left to see an opening in the wall that you can interact with. Squeeze through it and follow the path to the right at the split to find this Meditation Point.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Baw-Li-Guhh-Baw / [KEY ITEM] Buddha’s Left Hand
From the shrine, take the path left. Go through the hanging cocoons until you reach the three enemies that shoot webs at you. At about that spot, look left to see an opening in the wall that you can interact with. Squeeze through it and follow the path to the left. Keep going that way and you can drop into the boss arena. You’ll be given the Buddha’s Left Hand item for beating this boss.
Hut of Immortality
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Zhu Bajie / [CURIO] Jade Moon Rabbit
You will fight Zhu Bajie as part of the story. You will automatically acquire the Jade Moon Rabbit upon beating Zhu Bajie for the second time. You’ll have to fight him two times.
- [ARMOR] Non-Pure Set
This set can be crafted after beating Zhu Bajie.
The Purifying Spring
- [KEY ITEM] Skandha of Choice
From the shrine, follow the path until there is a long pond on your left. Go through that pond to the other side to find this item on a statue’s head.
- [SPIRIT] Dragonfly Guai
This enemy will be on your path shooting arrows at you from the top floor. When you reach its level, it’ll be on your right. If you go up the narrow path toward the next shrine, you’ve gone too far.
The Gathering Cave
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Violet Spider
This boss will be part of the story.
- [WEAPON] Spider Celestial Staff
This can be crafted as an upgrade to the Chitin Staff after beating the Violet Spider boss.
Mountain Trail
- [CURIO] Tiger Tendon Belt
This is dropped randomly by killing Snake Sherriff enemies.
- [SOAK] Fruit of Dao
This is dropped randomly by killing Sword Daoist enemies.
- Luojia Fragrant Vine
This is wrapped around a tree just before reaching the Mountain Trail Shrine. It’ll be right in front of you after the cutscene.

This enemy will be on the path after the shrine.

This enemy will be on the path after the shrine.

From the shrine, follow the path until you go up the first set of stairs. At the top, look left to see this in a small golden container.

This enemy will be on the path shortly after the previous Soak.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Staff Daoist
This enemy will be on the path shortly after the previous Soak.

This enemy will be on the path just before you reach the next shrine.
Forest of Ferocity

This is a random drop from killing Worm Practitioner enemies. There are two to the right of the shrine that you can farm.
- [MEDITATION POINT] The Height, Forest of Ferocity
Go a couple of steps to the right of the shrine and then follow the path to your left. Follow this to the end and the Meditation Point will be on your right on the cliff edge.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Commander Beetle / [SPIRIT]
From the shrine, take the path to the right. Keep going until you go up some stairs. At the top of the stairs, there will be a group of enemies training to your right. The Commander Beetle boss will be in front of the group of enemies.
- [CURIO] Tablet of the Three Supremes
This will be in a box in the back of where you fought the Commander Beetle boss.
Temple Entrance
- [MEDITATION POINT] The Pines, Temple of Yellow Flowers
From the shrine, go through the gate and all the way up the stairs. Go through the gate at the top of the stairs and then go through another gate on the right side. Once you’re through that gate, go left and you’ll run into this Meditation Point.
- [SPIRIT] Snake Sheriff
From the shrine, go through the gate and all the way up the stairs. Go through the gate at the top of the stairs and then go through another gate on the right side. Once you’re through that gate, go straight up the stairs and you’ll come to this enemy.
- Awaken Wine Worm / [SIDE QUEST] Old Man
This is found up the staircase where the Snake Sheriff spirit enemy was. It is in a pot next to the Old Man. Speak to the Old Man while you are here.
- [DRINK] Sunset of the Nine Skies
Follow the story path and it will take you up some stairs. At the top, go down the path to the end. There will be stairs on your left and an open gate on your right. Go through the open gate on the right. Follow the path from there. Once you go up two sets of stairs, there will be a split. Go to the right and there will be a house at the far end of the path. This Drink is outside of that house.
- [SPIRIT] Fungiwoman
Interact with the mushroom growing out of the ground near the previous Drink to spawn this enemy.
- [SIDE QUEST] Venom Daoist / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Venom Daoist / [ARMOR] Venomous Armguard
Follow the story path and it will take you up some stairs. At the top, go down the path to the end. There will be stairs on your left and an open gate on your right. Go through the open gate on the right. Follow the path from there. Once you go up two back to back sets of stairs, there will be a split. Go to the left. Keep going down the slope and Venom Daoist will spawn. He will only spawn if you beat him earlier in the chapter. You will need to fight him two times here.
MISSABLE The Venomous Armguard is earned by cutting off all of the arms on the back of Venom Daoist BEFORE you kill him. If you kill him without cutting off his arms, you’ll miss this armor piece and you’ll need to try again on New Game +.
After the fight, interact with the wall right in front of you and you’ll be taken to a secret area.
Purple Cloud Mountain
- [SIDE QUEST] Daoist Mi
When you first reach the bridge, speak to the red snake wrapped around the tree next to the bridge. Exhaust all of its dialogue before crossing the bridge.
Valley of Blooms
- [SOAK] Undying Vine
This is dropped randomly by killing Lushleaf enemies.
- [SPIRIT] Verdant Glow / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Lushleaf
Drop down into the water to the immediate left of the shrine. This enemy will be straight ahead of you kneeling down.
- Luojia Fragrant Vine
This will be wrapped around a the tree that the previous Lushleaf enemy was kneeling in front of.
- [MEDITATION POINT] The Ledge, Purple Cloud Mountain
Cross the bridge near the shrine. At the end of the bridge, go right. Go that direction until you can go left. Follow the path toward a big gate ahead of you. You can actually go up the hill to the immediate left of the big gate. This is just before reaching the Bounds of Deity’s Abode shrine. Go up that hill to the very top to find this Meditation Point.
- [SPIRIT] Snake Herbalist
From the Valley of Blooms Shrine, cross the nearby bridge and go left. Follow this path around and this enemy will be waiting on the path ahead near a big gate. This is just before the Petalfall Hamlet Shrine.
- [CURIO] Gold Sun Crow
From the Valley of Blooms Shrine, cross the nearby bridge and go left. Follow this path to the big gate. This is just before the Petalfall Hamlet Shrine. Look to the immediate left of the gate and you’ll notice that you can go up the hill to where the archer is. Go up that hill and walk across the top of the gate. On the other side, follow the short path over to a chest. The Curio is in that chest.
Petalfall Hamlet
- [CURIO] Celestial Registry Tablet
While facing the shrine, turn around and you should see a gazebo like structure straight ahead. This Curio is in a box under that gazebo.
- [SIDE QUEST] Daoist Mi / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Daoist Mi / [SPELL]
From the shrine, follow the path to the right and go over the bridge and then up the stairs. At the top, you’ll meet Daoist Mi. After the cutscene, you will need to kill enemies wearing the yellow robes until one of them drops the Violet Hail Key. The drops are completely random. You can rest at shrines to respawn enemies. Once you get that item, return to Daoist Mi and speak to him again. You’ll have to fight him twice here. Afterwards, you’ll be given the Violet Hail spell. You need to make sure you do this side quest before fighting the Duskveil boss. Otherwise, Daoist Mi will disappear and this will be missed.
Bounds of Deity’s Abode
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] The Scorpionlord / [GOURD] Stained Jade Gourd – MISSABLE
From the shrine, head up the nearby stairs and this boss will be sitting up on a roof. Destroy the pots below him in order to trigger the fight. If you go to the Duskveil boss before Scorpionlord, Scorpionlord will fight against Duskveil when you initiate that fight. If you do fight him, you’ll acquire the Stained Jade Gourd. You’ll miss out on this Gourd if you do not fight him.
- [ARMOR] Venomous Sting Insect Armor – MISSABLE
This can be crafted after beating Scorpionlord. If you go to the Duskveil boss before Scorpionlord, Scorpionlord will fight against Duskveil when you initiate that fight. Doing that will cause you to miss this armor piece.
Cloudnest Peak
- [MEDICINE FORMULA] Life Saving Pill
From the shrine, go down the path to the right of stairs. Go into the house on the right in the next area and this formula can be found in a small box on table inside.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] The Duskveil / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Hong Yi / [SOAK] Double-Combed Rooster Blood / [VESSEL] Weaver’s Needle
From the shrine, head up the stairs and go through the gate to begin this fight. There are two phases to this fight. If you didn’t fight Scorpionlord, he will join this fight. Afterwards, you’ll be given the journal entries, the Vessel as well as the Soak when the cutscenes are over.
Court of Illumination
Once you’re done with everything at Purple Cloud Mountain, return to the main story path.
- [SIDE QUEST] Purple Seals / [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Crane Immortal
From the shrine, go through the opening directly ahead of the shrine. Going through the opening on the right will lead you to the final boss. And this quest will be missed if you beat the final boss before completing the quest. Once you go through the opening, the final purple seal will be straight ahead of you. Once you interact with it, a boss fight will begin. Unlike the other fights in this game, you don’t have to beat this one. The fight will end once you’ve taken enough health away from the boss. Then, the Crane Immortal will speak to you. This will be added to your journal.
- Celestial Nonary Pill
This will be in a box behind the fourth Purple Seal.
- [JOURNAL PORTRAIT] Hundred Eyed Daoist Master
When you’ve completed everything missable and are ready to take on the final boss of the chapter, take the exit to the right of the shrine and head into the field. Equip the Weaver’s Needle and save it for the second phase of this fight. When he enters his second phase and the arena turns gold, use the Weaver’s Needle and it will knock him out of that state.
