You may actually complete a lot of this naturally as you play through the story, side missions and open world content.

Story

Complete all 57 main story missions.

This can be tracked via the pause menu > Stats > General > Missions Completed.

Jobs

There are 5 jobs to complete.

• Nightwatch – These can be started after 6 P.M.
  • McFarlane’s Ranch
  • Chuparosa
  • Blackwater

• Horse Breaking
  • Chuparosa
  • Ridgewood Farm

Rare Weapons

There are 5 rare weapons that you need to purchase. If you have high honor, the prices will be 50% off the default price. The prices listed below are the default prices.

  • LeMat Revolver – $1250

• Blackwater Gunsmith
  • Mauser Pistol – $800
  • Evans Repeater – $1000

Locations

There are 94 locations that you need to add to your map. That sounds like a lot, but this can be done very quickly.

For this, you don’t have to actually visit the locations to uncover them.

After you’ve bought the maps, press the TouchPad and select each one of them. They will then be added to the world map. Just buying them is not enough. You need to select each one of them in your inventory.

Gang Hideouts

There are 7 gang hideouts to complete. They will become available at certain points during the main story.

All you have to do is show up to their location and the hideout challenge will automatically begin.

Player Houses

There are 13 player houses that you need to buy. These will be marked as a blue house icon. These icons will be green after you’ve bought them.

Minigames

There are 6 minigames to play. You need to win them in order for them to be marked as “completed.” You do not have to play every location for the games. Just one will work.

• Arm Wrestling
• Blackjack
• Horseshoes
• Liar’s Dice
• Poker

Five Finger Fillet is needed as well, but this one can be a little tricky with the long button combinations. Look at the button combos below to make things easier. If you can just stare at the buttons below and enter them quickly, you should be able to get it done.

You’re going to want to do this in Torquemada. The reason for that is, you are awarded with a scrap for the Reyes’ Rebels outfit by beating all 4 players there. So you can get two things done here at the same time. If you do the game somewhere else, you will need to win Five Finger Fillet at least one more time in order to get the scrap.

Bounties

In total, there are 40 bounties. However, you only need to complete 20 of them in order to complete this for 100%. Although you’ll earn more money turning bounties in alive, it does not matter whether you turn them in alive or dead for this.

The 20 also need to be done in specific locations.

• 8 Bounties in New Austin
• 8 Bounties in Mexico
• 4 Bounties in West Elizabeth

Outfits

There are 9 outfits you need to collect. Outfits are collected by fulfilling different objectives for each one.

Elegant Suit

• This will become available for purchase after playing your first game of Poker. It will be for sale for $70 at the Thieves’ Landing Tailor.

Rancher Outfit

• This will be earned by completing the story mission, “The Outlaws Return.”

Mexican Poncho

• This is earned by purchasing any player house in Mexico.

Bollard Twins Outfit

• Scrap 1 – This is found in a chest in the warehouse in Thieves’ Landing near the pier. This is the warehouse next to the stagecoach.

• Scrap 2 – Complete a Nightwatch job at McFarlane’s Ranch.
• Scrap 3 – Win Horseshoes at McFarlane’s Ranch.
• Scrap 4 – Turn in a Bollard Twin bounty alive. These bounties can be acquired at McFarlane’s Ranch.
• Scrap 5 – Defend the residents of Hennigan’s Stead from the Bollard Twins gang. This a random event that appears on your map as a blue dot in Hennigan’s Stead.
• Scrap 6 – Purchased from the tailor in Thieves’ Landing.

Treasure Hunter Outfit

• Scrap 1 – Found in a chest in a small house in Silent Stead.

• Scrap 2 – Complete the Stranger Mission, “California.”
• Scrap 3 – Makes a profit playing Blackjack in Rathskeller Fort. It doesn’t matter how much you bet, you just need to win. Make a save before playing. If you lose, load your game and try again. You don’t wanna lose too much cause you have to dig yourself out of that negative hole.
• Scrap 4 – Turn in a Treasure Hunter bounty alive. These bounties can be acquired at Rathskeller Fort.
• Scrap 5 – Complete the gang hideout in Gaptooth Breach Hideout.
• Scrap 6 – Purchased from the tailor in Thieves’ Landing.

Bandito Outfit

• Scrap 1 – Found in a chest in a tent outside of Sidewinder Gulch.

• Scrap 2 – Complete a Nightwatch job at Chuparosa.
• Scrap 3 – Win Liar’s Dice at Casa Madrugada. You need to eliminate every player if there are more than one at the table.
• Scrap 4 – Turn in a Bandito bounty alive. These bounties can be acquired at Chuparosa.
• Scrap 5 – Defend the residents of Mexico from the Banditos gang. This a random event that appears on your map as a blue dot in Mexico.
• Scrap 6 – Purchased from the tailor in Chuparosa.

Reyes’ Rebels Outfit

• Scrap 1 – Found in a chest in the cemetery at Sepulcro. This is east of Las Hermanas. The chest is on the ground against a small wall in the south east section of the cemetery.

• Scrap 2 – Complete the Stranger Mission, “Poppycock.”
• Scrap 3 – Complete a Horse breaking job at Chuparosa
• Scrap 4 – Complete the Stranger Mission, “Love is the Opiate.”
• Scrap 5 – Beat all four opponents at Five Finger Filet in Torquemada.
• Scrap 6 – Purchased from the General Store in Escalera.

U.S. Army Outfit – Jack Only

• Scrap 1 – Found in a chest in the house on the northern side of the lake at Aurora Basin.

• Scrap 2 – Win arm wrestling at Pacific Union Railroad Camp.
• Scrap 3 – Eliminate all players in a Poker game at Blackwater.
• Scrap 4 – Complete the Stranger Mission, “Lights, Camera, Action.”
• Scrap 5 – Complete a Nightwatch job at Blackwater.
• Scrap 6 – Purchased from the tailor in Blackwater.

U.S. Marshalls Outfit – Jack Only

• Complete every gang hideout in the U.S. in less than 24 in-game hours.

For this, you need to make sure you do not sleep or fast travel. Doing so will advance the clock by 6 hours. So, check what time you begin and clear them out as quickly as possible.

You’re going to want to do them in this order:

1. Gaptooth Breach
2. Tumbleweed
3. Fort Mercer
4. Twin Rocks
5. Pike’s Basin

You’ll be starting on the western side of the map and making your way east. As soon as you finish one, immediately ride to the next.

Stranger Missions

There are 19 Stranger missions, but only 18 of them are required for 100%.

These are side missions that will appear on your map as ? icons. They will show up as you get near their locations as long as you have progressed far enough into the main story. Some of these take places across multiple steps.

When acquired, the mission locations will show up as purple circles and purple ? icons on your map.

Challenges

There are actually 4 challenges, but they are split in half and counted as two. So the game counts it as 8 challenges.

• Sharpshooter

This challenge begins when you shoot your first flying bird.

Rank 1 – Kill 5 Flying Wild Birds.

• • Birds are found everywhere.

Rank 2 – Kill 5 rabbits.

• • Hanging Rock, Tall Trees

Rank 3 – Kill 5 Coyotes without taking damage.

• • McFarlane’s Ranch, Hennigan’s Stead

Rank 4 – Kill 5 birds while on a moving train.

Rank 5 – Kill any 2 wild animals in a single use of Dead Eye.

Rank 6 – Shoot the hats off of any 2 people.

• • Use Dead Eye to make this easier.
  • This is best done in Mexico as the hats are bigger and easier to hit.

Rank 7 – Kill 3 bears with 1 shot each.

• • You can use the Carcano rilfe for this. One shot to the head will be enough with it.
  • Bears are found in Tall Trees

Rank 8 – Shoot the hats off of 2 people and disarm two people

• • Cannot disarm the same person you shoot the hat off of. Must be done on different people. Disarm people by shooting the guns out of their hands.

Rank 9 – Kill any 6 wild animals in a row without reloading or changing weapons.

• • Use the Evans Repeater as it has the biggest magazine.

Rank 10 – Disarm 6 enemies without reloading or changing weapons.

• • This has to be done manually. If you use Dead Eye, your weapon will be automatically reloaded.
  • Do not step on ammo for your weapon or else it will auto reload.
  • Aim for the gun the enemy is holding.

• Master Hunter

This challenge can be started by killing and skinning a coyote.

Rank 1 – Collect 5 coyotes pelts.

Rank 2 – Collect 5 deer pelts

• • Tall Trees, Rio Bravo, Hennigan’s Stead, Cholla Springs

Rank 3 – Kill 5 wolves with your knife and collect 5 wolf pelts.

Rank 4 – Collect 5 boar tusks and 3 armadillo carapaces.

• • Boar – North Hennigan’s Stead, Tall Trees
  • Armadillo –  Cholla Springs, Gaptoth Ridge, Perdido

Rank 5 – Kill 2 cougars with your knife and collect 2 cougar pelts.

• • Shoot the cougar to weaken it and then finish it off with your knife.
  • Tall Trees, Great Plains, Beecher’s Hope

Rank 6 – Collect 5 skunk pelts, 5 raccoon pelts and 5 fox pelts.

• • Skunk – Armadillo, Hennigan’s Stead, Rio Bravo, Warhtington Ranch. Night only.
  • Raccoon – Great Plains, Armadillo, Tall Tress. Night only.
  • Fox – Tall Trees, Great Plains

Rank 7 – Collect 5 elk meat and 5 bighorn skins.

• • Elk – Manzanita Post, Tall Trees
  • Bighorn – Tall Trees, Manzanita Post

Rank 8 – Kill a bear with your knife and collect a bear pelt.

• • Three body shots with the Semi-Auto Shotgun, get some distance from the bear and then let it charge you. As it gets close, swing the knife.
  • Tall Trees

Rank 9 – Search Ojo Del Diablo for Khan, the legendary Jaguar and collect his pelt.

Rank 10 – Search Aurora Basin for Lobo, the legendary wolf. Nekoti Rock for Brumas the legendary bear. Stillwater Creek for Gordo, the legendary boar. Collect their pelts.

• Survivalist

As you run or ride through the wilderness, a plant icon will appear on your minimap as you get near a plant. You can actually buy Survivalist maps from General Stores. These will mark the locations of all plants on your map for 15 real world minutes.

This challenge is started by picking your first Wild Feverfew.

• Treasure Hunter

This challenge is started by acquiring a Treasure Map from a random encounter (blue dot on the minimap) or by opening your first chest.

You’ll find drawn maps that give you a clue of where the treasure is hidden. The treasure is at the following locations buried under a pile of rocks.

Rank 1 – Acquire the Treasure map.

Rank 2 – Hanging Rock in the rock formation.

Rank 3 – Del Lobo Rock – On the backside of the mountain on a ledge. Go right from the campsite at the end of the road and slide down to the next ledge.

Rank 4 – Old Mansion basement in Tumbleweed

Rank 5 – Rio Del Toro – Just north from Chuparosa. Near the river against a small stone wall across the road from a tree with cattle skulls on it.

Rank 6 – Crooked Toes – Climb up the tallest rock formation just north from the road where the “Crooked Toes” map label is.

Rank 7 – Ojo Del Diablo – On the western ledge under the big rock arch.

Rank 8 – Roca de Madera – This is southwest from the big stone pillar along the northern edge of a cliff near the river. South east from Del Lobo Rock.

Rank 9 – Broken Tree – East of Beecher’s Hope along a stone wall next to the only big tree in the area.

Rank 10 – Nekoti Rock in the cave where Brumas spawns. Follow the trail up the mountain and the cave will be in the back of the small camp area.
