Welcome to the Trophy and Achievement guide for the remastered version of the original Mass Effect in the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Along with the game, the Trophy/Achievement lists have been reworked. Some Trophies/Achievements from the original game have been changed or removed. Luckily, everything can be completed in one playthrough this time around.
Yes, the entire list can be done in a single playthrough, BUT that doesn’t mean there are no missables here, unfortunately. You’re going to need to keep track of a few things as you play in order to complete it all in one go. Most of this list is technically missable, but if you’re exploring the different locations, speaking to other characters and using all of your team, a lot will be done without having to go too far out of your way. There are even a few Trophies/Achievements that can be cheesed if you’re looking to get them out of the way as quickly as possible.
For newcomers, traveling to Ilos late in the game is the point of no return. Do not travel there until you have everything you need completed.
*NOTE* There is an extra list that spans across all three Mass Effect games in the Legendary Edition. On Xbox, this list is not separate. It is one long list. On PlayStation, this list is separate. This means that although there is not a romantic relationship Trophy/Achievement required for this particular Platinum/100%, you still need to have a relationship to pop that Trophy/Achievement in the separate Legendary Edition list. At the bottom of this guide will be info on Trophies/Achievements that are affected by this game.

Meritorious Service Medal

Archivist
ME1: Find all primary Alien: Council Races, Extinct Races and Non-Council Races codex entries
This is one of the more easily missable Trophies/Achievements, but it can be earned fairly quickly early on in the game. You have to collect every codex for every race. These are a mixed bag. Some of them are missable, some of them will be given to you automatically and others must be collected by choosing certain dialogue options with certain characters.
- Asari – Received automatically.
- Salarian – Received automatically.
- Turian – Received automatically.
- Protheans *Missable* – Speak to Nihlus and Captain Anderson will eventually join in. Choose the “Investigate” dialogue option and then select “Protheans.”
- Geth – When you first meet Ashley on Eden Prime, Choose the “Investigate” dialogue option and then select “Geth.”
- Volus – Go to the Volus and Elcor office in Citadel Presidium. Once there, speak to the Volus named Din Korlack. Select “Investigate” then select “Volus” and select both “History” and “Culture.”
- Elcor – Go to the Volus and Elcor office in Citadel Presidium. Once there, speak to the Elcor named Calyn. He will be right next to Din Korlack behind the desk. Choose “Investigate” then select “Elcor” and select both “History” and “Culture.”
- Keepers – Go to the Avina Terminal next to an elevator in the Presidium and interact with it. There is also a Keeper near here. Choose “Investigate” then select “Keepers.”
- Hanar – Go to the Emporium in the Presidium across from the previous Alvina Terminal and speak to the Hanar named Delan. Select the “Personal Question” dialogue option.
- Rachni – Go to the Avina Terminal next to a Krogan statue in the Presidium. Select “Investigate” and then choose “Rachni Wars.”
- Krogan – This will be automatically given to by gaining Wrex as an ally.
- Quarian – This will be automatically given to by gaining Tali as an ally.
- Batarian – After becoming a Spectre, speak with Captain Anderson after Udina leaves outside of the Normandy. Choose the dialogue option “You Worked with the Spectres.”
Completionist
ME1: Complete the majority of the game
This description is not referring to the main story. Instead, you’ll have to complete a majority of everything there is to do in this game before completing the main story. So, you’re going to want to do just about every side mission in addition to the main missions. Side missions and activities can be given to you by speaking with other characters, notifications and by investigating points of interest on the Galaxy map. If you’re near the end of the game and still do not have this, do not go forward with the story and just work on side missions until this pops. Do not travel to Ilos until you have this completed. Make sure to complete all Citadel specific quests before starting the Virmire quest line.
This popped for me when I had completed 16 main missions and 28 assignments for a total of 44.
Medal of Exploration I
ME1: Land on an uncharted world
See “Medal of Exploration III” below for more details.
Medal of Exploration II
ME1: Land on 4 uncharted worlds
See “Medal of Exploration III” below for more details.
Medal of Exploration III
ME1: Land on 8 uncharted worlds
Once you’re able to travel and explore other systems with the Normandy, just go to planets that are not tied to the main story. You can land on whatever planet you’ve chosen, leave and head to another until you’ve hit 8.
Soldier Ally
ME1: Complete 5 missions with the Alliance soldier squad member
Fortunately, these ally related Trophies/Achievements have be reworked from the original game. They are much easier to earn this time around. All you have to do is complete five missions with each of your allies. They can be side missions or main missions. With assignments counting too, this speeds things up.
- Soldier – Ashley
- Sentinel – Kaiden
- Krogan – Wrex
- Turian – Garrus
- Quarian – Tali
- Asari – Liara
Sentinel Ally
ME1: Complete 5 missions with the Alliance sentinel squad member
See “Soldier Ally” above for more details.
Krogan Ally
ME1: Complete 5 missions with the krogan squad member
See “Soldier Ally” above for more details.
Turian Ally
ME1: Complete 5 missions with the turian squad member
See “Soldier Ally” above for more details.
Quarian Ally
ME1: Complete 5 missions with the quarian squad member
See “Soldier Ally” above for more details.
Asari Ally
ME1: Complete 5 missions with the asari squad member
See “Soldier Ally” above for more details.
Principled
ME1: Accumulate 75% of total possible Paragon or Renegade points
In order to unlock this, you’re going to pretty much have to go all in with either Renegade or Paragon. Always select the dialogue choice or perform an action that reflects whichever path you’ve chosen. As long as you stay consistent with your choices and actions while fully exploring almost everything this game has to offer, this should be something that eventually pops as you play. You can check your progress toward this by going to the start menu and then select “Squad.” Your Paragon and Renegade meters are on the left side of the screen. You need to fill four of the five bars in either Renegade or Paragon.
If you’re playing Paragon and need some points, there is an unlimited Paragon points glitch from the original game that is still active.
The glitch can be done during the mission UNC: Lost Module. You can get this mission by going to Attican Beta > Hercules < Eletania. Once in Hercules, Admiral Hackett will contact you and the mission will be added to your journal.
- Track down and interact with the probe.
- Find the monkey with the probe. There are marked locations on the map where monkeys can be found. One of the locations will have a mining structure that you can enter. The target monkey can be found in here. *Note* Do not kill any of the monkeys. Be careful driving the Mako around them. Make an extra save just in case a monkey is killed.
- Search the monkey with the module.
- Make a save
- Reload the save
- Search the monkey again. You only have to save the one time. After you reload, you can continually search the same monkey and rack up the Paragon points.
Spectre Inductee
ME1: Become a Spectre
This is an unmissable story related Trophy and Achievement.
Charismatic
ME1: Use Charm or Intimidate to resolve an impossible situation
There are two chances to earn this in the game. But before it can be earned, you’ll need to make sure you have high intimidate or charm. Eight points in either to be exact. Chances are, you’ve already picked a renegade or paragon route, so as long you’ve followed your path of choice, you should be good here.
The first chance to get this is on Virmire with Wrex. Wrex will eventually learn that the plan is to destroy the cure to the Genophage and becomes upset. This is where you will need to use your intimidate or charm dialogue options to reason with him and calm him down. Also, if you complete Wrex’s Family Armor Assignment prior to this, he can be more easily convinced to agree with you.
The second chance to get this is on the Citadel near the end of the game. You will eventually confront Saren in the Council Chambers. You’ll have a conversation with him here and if your stats are high enough, you can convince Saren that he has been indoctrinated and he will kill himself.
Search and Rescue
ME1: Locate Dr. T’soni in the Artemis Tau cluster
This is an unmissable story related Trophy and Achievement. Liara is found in Artemis Tau < Knossos < Therum.
Colonial Savior
ME1: Complete the Bring Down the Sky mission
When you’re able to travel with the Normandy, zoom out of the map until you see Asteroid X57 in the Exodus Cluster. Travel to Asgard and there you can land on Asteroid X57. Once you land, you’ll receive a transmission asking for help in shutting down three thrusters. Follow this mission through and complete it.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition
**Not required for any of the Platinum Trophies.***
Insanity III
Complete all three games in Mass Effect Legendary Edition on Insanity without changing difficulty
Complete all three Mass Effect games on Insanity to earn this. Insanity is unlocked from the very beginning, so this can all be done in one shot if you choose to do so. It’ll be harder due to how many side quests and exploring you have to do throughout the three games to get everything, but it’s not impossible. I would recommend a second playthrough on New Game + to knock the Insanity Trophies and Achievements out. This way, all of the missable and side content will be completed. If you’re just in it for the Insanity Trophies/Achievements, a lot of side stuff could be skipped your second time through. Sticking to only what is required will make the games much shorter. In addition to that, your character will be highly leveled up.
Paramour III
Establish or rekindle a romantic relationship in all three games in Mass Effect Legendary Edition
Mass Effect 1
Male Shepard’s partners – Ashley or Liara
Female Shepard’s partners – Kaiden or Liara
All you have to do here is speak with your partner of choice after every main mission on the Normandy. Make sure to pick the more romantic sounding dialogue options, get in to the personal history and be supportive. Keep it going with each conversation. Make sure to only try this with one partner. Trying for both simultaneously can mess this up. Paramour I will pop when you head to Ilos in the original Mass Effect.
NOTE Only one of Kaiden and Ashley will make it to the trip to Ilos. One of them will die on Virmire. There is no way to get them both through and it will be your choice as to who lives. So, if your partner is one of them, be sure to choose your partner when faced with the choice.
Long Service Medal
Finish Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 with the same character
For this, you’re going to need to import your character from each game into the next. Most players are going to do this anyway as that is one of biggest reasons for playing this trilogy. Just to be safe, make sure to be using the same character from game to game instead of starting from scratch in ME 2 or 3.
Veteran
Kill 2,000 enemies in Mass Effect 1, 2 or 3
Not much to say here other than your total kill count will carry from game to game. There’s a lot to do in this trilogy. There will be a lot of combat. Don’t think about it too much and this will eventually pop.
Bruiser
Kill 100 enemies with melee attacks in Mass Effect 1, 2 or 3
As you’re playing through the trilogy, make sure to mix in some melee kills when in combat. Just as the previous Trophy/Achievement, this will eventually pop as long as you’re being mindful to use melee.
