Mass Effect 3 (Legendary Edition) Trophy and Achievement Guide

dg cover trophy achievement

Welcome to the Trophy and Achievement guide for the Legendary Edition version of Mass Effect 3! Just like the two previous games, this is a pretty straight forward list. However, unlike the previous two games, Mass Effect 3 is going to take about an extra half of a playthrough in order to get the Platinum and 100%. There is no multiplayer (yet?) this time around. If you haven’t already, you’ll also be finishing most of the separate Legendary Edition list here as well.

Just like with the first two games, there are some biotic related Trophies and Achievements. Unfortunately, using your teammates’ powers will not count toward those in ME3 like they did in ME and ME 2. I don’t know if it they are not meant to or if it is a bug, but I couldn’t get them to register. There is a way to get all of the biotic related Trophies/Achievements done in one playthrough, but you don’t have to. Gunsmith is going to require a partial second playthrough, so whatever biotic Trophy/Achievement you didn’t get on your first, you can knock out while finishing Gunsmith. Below is the method to get all of them done during your initial playthrough. Again, you don’t have to do this because you will have to play again, but it’s up to you.

  • Choose Engineer for your class.
  • With the Engineer class, you’ll be able to use the abilities to earn Shield Breaker and Pyromaniac.
  • Complete the Omega downloadable content to unlock two bonus powers.
  • After completing Omega DLC, go to Medical on the Normandy and interact with the first bed on the right.
  • Here you can teach yourself Flare.
  • Using Flare will count toward Sky High..

As mentioned above, a partial second playthrough will be required. For Gunsmith, you can only upgrade a weapon to level five on your first time through. You’ll have to start a New Game + by importing your character and play until you find and finish upgrading whatever weapon you’ve chosen. For this specifically, you should upgrade any of the weapons found on Mars. Mars is very early in the game, so you won’t have to go through the entire game for a lone Trophy/Achievement.

In this game, you’re going to also want to play through everything that you possibly can. Almost everything that you complete will give you War Assets to add to your Total Military Strength. In order to unlock Master and Commander, you’re going to need to have a high enough score before heading into the end game.

*NOTE* There is an extra list that spans across all three Mass Effect games in the Legendary Edition. On Xbox, this list is not separate. It is one long list. On PlayStation, this list is separate. This means that although there is not a romantic relationship Trophy/Achievement required for this particular Platinum/100%, you still need to have a relationship to pop that Trophy/Achievement in the separate Legendary Edition list. At the bottom of this guide will be info on Trophies/Achievements that are affected by this game.

master and commander trophy and achievement Master and Commander

ME3: Deliver most of the Galaxy at War assets to the final conflict.

In order to earn this, you’re going to have to do just about everything in the game. Complete every story mission, side mission, scan every planet with a resource and complete all DLC. For most of everything that you complete, you earn War Assets that will add to your Total Military Strength. This can be found on level two of the Normandy at the War Table.

In the original game, the required score was 4000. There have been varying reports of when this has popped and at what number in the Legendary Edition.  So to be safe, get it as high as you can and do not head into the end game until it pops.

This popped for me when speaking to Admiral Hackett aboard the Normandy after completing “Priority: Rannoch.” Traynor will say that he wants to speak with you when you regain control of Shepard. My Total Military Strength was 6834 when it popped.

The point of no return for this is “Priority: Cerberus Headquarters.”

Below are the side missions you can complete that will reward you with War Assets. In order to complete the missions that have you scanning planets for resources, you will need to return to the mission giver and speak with them. Be sure to have a back up save just in case you go too far. Progressing main story missions can lock out certain missions if they are not completed. Always check through your Journal before doing any of the “Priority” labled missions.

In addition to everything listed below, you can also gain War Assets by authorizing requests via the Spectre Terminal in the Embassies on the Citadel.

There will be two different main missions that are tied to the Citadel that happen early in the game and then after Tuchanka. In your Journal, they will both be named “Priotity: Citadel.” For this, they’ll be named “Citadel” and “Citadel II.”

lost and found trophy achievement Lost and Found

ME3: Dispatch 10 probes to retrieve people or resources in Reaper territory.

This is very similar to scanning for materials and missions on planets in Mass Effect 2. In the Galaxy Map, Reaper territory will be marked with a Reaper ship over a cluster. Go into these clusters and scan the planets. Press L2/LT to scan. Just like with Mass Effect 2, you’ll hear an alert from EDI when a signal is found. When something is found, head to the marked location, start the scanner and send a probe to retrieve the item/data from the marked location on the planet.

Scanning planets in Reaper territory will get their attention. So, they will come after you which will force you to leave the system. You can evade them by either leaving the system or by using the Mass Relay. Once you leave and avoid the Reaper ship, you’ll also unlock “Untouchable.” You’ll be able to come back and explore the rest of a system you were chased out of after completing a mission.

This can be tracked by going to the Main Menu > Extras > Trophies.

a personal touch trophy achievement A Personal Touch

ME3: Modify a weapon.

In order to modify a weapon, you will first need to find or buy a weapon mod. Once you have a mod, you can go to any workbench and apply it your weapon. Below is an image of mods look like when found during missions.

combined arms trophy achievement Combined Arms

ME3: Perform any combination of 50 biotic combos or tech bursts.

This is very similar to Technician from Mass Effect 2. Some biotic powers and tech abilities can be combined on a single enemy. They have to both be active at the same time to count. Unlike ME2, the counter for this is not as stubborn. These are much easier to get this time around. For whatever reason, ally powers don’t count toward the other biotic Trophies/Achievements, but they DO count for this one. You can use an ally’s power to set this up and then use one of your own to combine them. That will count toward this. You’ll receive a pop up message in the bottom right of the screen for every five enemies that register.

This can be tracked by going to the Main Menu > Extras > Trophies.

Elemental Combos are listed below:

  • Cryo Explosion
    • Use Cryo Ammo or Cryo Blast to freeze an enemy
    • Then, use any biotic or tech power that causes damage.
  • Fire Explosion
    • Use Carnage, Incendiary Ammo, Inferno Grenade or Incinerate to set an enemy on fire.
    • Then, use any biotic or tech power that causes damage.
  • Tech Burst
    • Use Disruptor Ammo, Energy Drain, Overload or Sabotage.
    • Then, use any biotic or tech power that causes damage.

Ammo Combo:

  • Cryo Ammo + (Once frozen) Concussion Shot
  • Incendiary Ammo + (Once on fire) Concussion Shot

Below are biotic combos that can be used to knock this out:

  • Pull +
    • Charge
    • Cluster Grenade
    • Nova
    • Reave
    • Shockwave
    • Throw
    • Warp

For this, you just need to use any power that can lift an enemy off of the ground. Unfortunately, your allies’ abilities will not count toward this. These all have to be done by Shepard. You can reload saves if need be to farm this. You’ll receive a pop up message in the bottom right of the screen for every 10 enemies that register.

This can be tracked by going to the Main Menu > Extras > Trophies.

Abilities:

  • Singularity – Adept Shepard
  • Pull – Adept and Vanguard Shepard
  • Throw – Adept and Sentinel Shepard
  • Lift Grenade – Sentinel Shepard
  • Concussive Shot – Soldier Shepard
  • Biotic Charge – Vanguard Shepard

You can gain bonus powers by completing the Omega downloadable content missions. These can be used to help with this Trophy/Achievement.

  • Lash
  • Flare

pyromaniac trophy achievement Pyromaniac

ME3: Set 100 enemies on fire with powers.

For this, you just need to use any power that can light an enemy on fire. Unfortunately, your allies’ abilities will not count toward this. These all have to be done by Shepard. Unless it is a bug, none of my allies’ attacks registered toward this. You can reload saves if need be to farm this.

This can be tracked by going to the Main Menu > Extras > Trophies.

  • Incinerate – Infiltrator and Engineer Shepard
  • Inferno Grenade – Bonus power gained by recruiting Ashley during Citadel II.

Warp counted toward this in the original game, but I couldn’t get it to register in the Legendary Edition.

eye of the hurricane trophy achievement Eye of the Hurricane

ME3: Kill a brute while it’s charging you.

You will encounter Brutes for the first time during the mission on Palaven. These are just bigger husk like enemies. They only have Armored health bars. Whittle their armor down and wait for it to charge at you. When it is charging toward you, finish it off and kill it.

This can be a little tricky to set up because your squad will attack it too. Just try to keep your distance from it and it should at charge you.

The mission “Mahavid: Leviathan” from the Leviathan DLC is a good place to try and get this.

  • At the very beginning of the mission, take a few steps away from your landing spot and make a save.
  • There will be two Brutes down below where the lift will take you.
  • Weaken a Brute until it has 1 Armor square left
  • Stop firing and wait for it to charge you. KIll it while its charging.
  • Your teammates can get in the way of this. If you don’t get it, reload your save and try again.

mail slot trophy achievement Mail Slot

ME3: Kill 10 guardians with headshots from the front while their shields are raised.

Guardians are enemies that carry shields in front of them. You’re going to have to kill them with head shots through the hole in the shield that they look through. This is most easily done by using a sniper rifle. You will encounter many of these enemies through out the game.

This can be tracked by going to the Main Menu > Extras > Trophies.

hijacker trophy achievement Hijacker

ME3: Hijack an Atlas mech.

There are a couple things that need to be done here. First, you’re going to need to deplete the Atlas Mech’s shield. Once that is down, focus your fire on the cockpit. When the glass of the cockpit breaks, kill the pilot. When the pilot is dead, you can then approach the mech and press X/A to hijack it.

giant killer trophy achievement Giant Killer

ME3: Defeat a harvester.

This is basically story related as you will encounter multiple harvesters over the course of the game. They are big flying enemies with only an armor health bar that can spawn enemies and fire projectiles at you. All you have to do is kill one.

always prepared trophy achievement Always Prepared

ME3: Obtain two non-customizable suits of armor.

In order to pop this, you’re going to have to buy two of the following armor sets below:

  • Blood Dragon Armor
    • Citadel -> Presidium Commons -> Kanala Exports
  • Cerberus Armor
    • Citadel -> Presidium Commons -> Elkoss Combine Arsenal Supplies
  • Collector Armor
    • Citadel -> Presidium Commons -> Nos Astra Sporting Goods
  • Inferno Armor
    • Citadel -> Presidium Commons -> Kassa Fabrication
  • Terminus armor
    • Citadel -> Docks: Holding Area -> Batarian State Arms

Each of the armor sets cost 50,000 in the stores. They can be bought on the Normandy but they will cost 55,000 from there.

gunsmith trophy achievement Gunsmith

ME3: Upgrade any weapon to level 10.

This is going to require a New Game + playthrough. On your first playthrough, weapons can only be upgraded to level five. The upgrade station on the Normandy is in the Shuttle Bay to the right of the Weapon Bench.

So, on your initial playthrough, buy upgrades for any weapon to get it to level five. Start up a NG+ playthrough and find the weapon(s) you had at level 5 and then finish upgrading them to 10.

This is most quickly done by using a weapon found on Mars since it is at the very beginning of the game.

This can be tracked by going to the Main Menu > Extras > Trophies.

under pressure trophy achievement Under Pressure

ME3: Uncover an ancient secret.

This is earned by completing all of the Leviathan downloadable content main story missions.

The questline will be made available to you after completing “Priority: Palaven.”

savior Savior

ME3: Free Omega from Cerberus Occupation.

This is earned by completing all of the Omega downloadable content main story missions.

To begin the questline, complete “Priority: Palaven.” Then, go speak with Aria. Aria can be found in Purgatory on the Citadel.

last resort trophy achievement Last Resort

ME3: Stop an out-of-control scheme before it’s too late.

This is earned by completing all of the Citadel downloadable content main story missions.

To begin the questline, complete “Priority: Citadel II.” After that, check your personal terminal for a message from Hackett telling you to dry dock at the Citadel and for you take some leave.

one and only trophy achievement The One and Only

ME3: Defeat a group of Spectre-level opponents on Normal, Hardcore, or Insanity.

Before you can earn this, you will need to complete the Citadel DLC.

In order to get this, you’re going to need to go to the Armax Arsenal Arena in the Silversun Strip section of the Citadel. Once there, you’re going to need to play a few rounds to earn Silver Tokens which can be used to unlock score modifiers in order to be able to reach 6,000 points. Activate the score modifiers and kill all of the enemies as quickly as you can to keep your multiplier up.

Once you have a Gold Token, you need to use it to buy the “Mirror Match Combat Set.”  Set the Mirror Match enemies to N7. That’s the only setting that matters. Take whoever you want with you in your squad and get ready to fight enemy Shepards.

If you’re struggling with this, there is an easy workaround.

  • Start the fight
  • Set the difficulty to Narrative
  • Kill every enemy until there is only left.
  • Set the difficulty back to Normal.
  • Kill the last enemy.

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

**Not required for any of the Platinum Trophies.***

insanity 3 trophy achievement Insanity III

Complete all three games in Mass Effect Legendary Edition on Insanity without changing difficulty

Complete all three Mass Effect games on Insanity to earn this. Insanity is unlocked from the very beginning, so this can all be done in one shot if you choose to do so. It’ll be harder due to how many side quests and exploring you have to do throughout the three games to get everything, but it’s not impossible. I would recommend a second playthrough on New Game + to knock the Insanity Trophies and Achievements out. This way, all of the missable and side content will be completed. If you’re just in it for the Insanity Trophies/Achievements, a lot of side stuff could be skipped your second time through. Sticking to only what is required will make the games much shorter. In addition to that, your character will be highly leveled up.

paramour 3 Trophy achievement Paramour III

Establish or rekindle a romantic relationship in all three games in Mass Effect Legendary Edition

Mass Effect 3

Male Shepard’s partners:

  • Miranda – Only if she was your partner in Mass Effect 2
  • Tali – Only if she was your partner in Mass Effect 2
  • Jack – Only if she was your partner in Mass Effect 2
  • Ashley – Only if she survived Virmire in Mass Effect
  • Kaiden – Only if he survived Virmire in Mass Effect
  • Steve Cortez
  • Liara
  • Kelly Chambers

Female Shepard’s partners:

  • Samantha Traynor
  • Garrus – Only if he was your partner in Mass Effect 2
  • Kaiden – Only if he survived Virmire in Mass Effect
  • Liara
  • Kelly Chambers – Only if she was your partner in Mass Effect 2

It is possible to romance other characters, but these are the ones that will pop the Trophy/Achievement. Just like with the previous games, speak to your partner of choice after every mission. Always exhaust all of their dialogue options. Eventually, your partner will ask you to go up to your cabin. Agree to go and finish off this line of Paramour Trophies/Achievements.

If you’re sticking with the same partner, this will be earned pretty quickly.

long service trophy achievement Long Service Medal

Finish Mass Effect 1, 2 and 3 with the same character

For this, you’re going to need to import your character from each game into the next. Most players are going to do this anyway as that is one of biggest reasons for playing this trilogy. Just to be safe, make sure to be using the same character from game to game instead of starting from scratch in ME 2 or 3.

Veteran trophy achievement Veteran

Kill 2,000 enemies in Mass Effect 1, 2 or 3

Not much to say here other than your total kill count will carry from game to game. There’s a lot to do in this trilogy. There will be a lot of combat. Don’t think about it too much and this will eventually pop.

In Mass Effect 3, this can be tracked by going to the Main Menu > Extras > Trophies.

bruiser trophy achievement Bruiser

Kill 100 enemies with melee attacks in Mass Effect 1, 2 or 3

As you’re playing through the trilogy, make sure to mix in some melee kills when in combat. Just as the previous Trophy/Achievement, this will eventually pop as long as you’re being mindful to use melee.

In Mass Effect 3, this can be tracked by going to the Main Menu > Extras > Trophies.
