Gears of War: E-Day Achievement Guide & Roadmap

Welcome to our Gears of War: E-Day Achievement Guide & Roadmap

  • 9/10 – Estimated Difficulty
  •  100+ – Estimated Hours to Completion
  • 1 – Minimum Play-Throughs
    • 1 is possible but you’d need to find all collectibles on Insane while playing Co-Op for that. So multiple playthroughs are likely.
  • 0 – Missable Achievements
  • 3 – Difficulty Related Achievements
  • 24 – Online Multiplayer Achievements

The difficulty rating for Gears of War: E-Day is tied to the multiplayer grind. This list is not so much difficult in terms of gameplay, but it is going to require a huge amount of time grinding multiplayer. Most of this list is going to run through the achievement, “Dead Serious.” That is a multi task achievement that you’ll be working toward in all three modes of the game. Each of the requirements for that achievement will have other achievements tied to them. So almost everything you’ll be doing will be working toward that achievement.

As previously mentioned, there is a lot of time in each of the three modes

Step 1 – Complete and Earn 100% Campaign Completion

The first thing you’re going to want do is knock out the campaign. You’ll need to beat it in Co-Op, you need to beat it on Insane difficulty, and you need to collect every collectible for 100%. If you’re looking for the most efficient way through, you can do all of them in a single playthrough if you’re going through it on Co-Op. For Dead Serious, you’ll need to beat the game on Insane and have 100% completion. Despite how the achievement is worded, you don’t actually have earn 100% completion while playing on Insane. You can grab all of the collectibles on any difficulty to reach 100% completion and then play again on Insane to rush through it and complete it. But that will of course add extra playthroughs. So it’s up to you on how you want to tackle that. For me, I found it better to get 100% completion on Story difficulty and then quickly run through it on Insane.

For 100% completion, you’ll need to find all 140 collectibles, 125 hard cases, unlock all 36 supply cache items, and complete all 17 secondary objectives. Secondary objectives are very short side quests that you’ll come across when exploring the open zones in each of the acts. These basically boil down to just killing enemies and speaking with NPCs. When you’re near one, it’ll be marked on your map.

You can follow the Gears of War: E-Day Collectible and Hard Case Guide for the locations of all 125 Hard Cases and 140 collectibles.

Step 2 – Multiplayer

From here, there really is no time efficient method to complete the multiplayer achievements. So you can go about it however you feel when it comes to this. You’ll need to spend a lot of time playing the Horde Siege and Versus modes. You can focus only on one or you can mix it up and switch between the two. For Horde, the thing that’s going to take most of your time will be killing 50,000 enemies. This can be done any difficulty, so that makes it a little easier, but it will still require a ton of time. In addition to that, you will also need to reach the max rank for each of the four classes in Horde.

As for Versus, you’re going to need to get at least 25,000 kills and you’ll need to reach max player rank which will require re-upping four times. For the kills, you can actually get farm bots. Which again, will make this easier, but it is still a grind.

Guide Breakdown

The guide below is currently a work in progress, but it is being updated multiple times throughout the day!

Campaign

FNG

Complete Boot Camp.

You’ll be given the option to play through a short tutorial when first starting the game. You’ll need to complete this tutorial in order to earn this achievement. If you skip the boot camp, it’s not missed. From the main menu, choose, Practice > Boot Camp, to play through it.

 Chainsaw Go Brrrrrrrrr

Let a chainsaw do what it does best against a Locust in Campaign or Horde Siege.

All you have to do here is get a melee kill with the Prototype Lancer. It has the chainsaw attached. Equip that weapon and then hold as an enemy approaches and you’ll perform the melee kill with the chainsaw.

 You’re My Brother

Complete all Acts of the Campaign on Co-Op (any difficulty).

In order to earn this achievement, you’re going to need to play through and complete the entire campaign while playing on Co-Op. There is no difficulty requirement for this achievement. You can just run through on Story difficulty if you’d like, or you can knock out Insane difficulty here. That would take care of other achievements as well as requirements for other multi step achievements. There are several achievements tied to beating the campaign on Insane difficulty. So, doing that in Co-Op would complete those all in one playthrough here.

 Relax. I’m the Map.

Discover all Hard Cases in the Campaign.

There are 125 Hard Cases to find in the campaign. These are yellow boxes that contain weapon and armor mods when opened. They’ll be added to your map when you are near them and a music tone will play. If you die after opening one, but didn’t reach a checkpoint, you will need to open the case again. So make sure to keep that in mind if you die. You don’t want to miss one that already opened due to a death.

You can follow the Gears of War: E-Day Collectible and Hard Case guide for the locations of all 125 Hard Cases.

 Quartermaster

Unlock all Supply Cache items in the Campaign.

Supply Caches are caches that you can interact with during the campaign to get weapons. They are also used to customize weapons with mods that you find by completing secondary objectives and by opening Hard Cases. For this achievement, you just need to add every weapon to the Supply Caches. Adding weapons to your caches is actually very easy. All you have to do is pick up a weapon and it will automatically be added to your cache. You don’t need to use them or get kills with them. As soon as you pick up a weapon that you’ve never held before, it will instantly be added to your cache. A weapon you’ve never used before will have a yellow ! icon next to the name when you find them. So, as you play through the campaign, keep your eyes open for new weapons that are dropped by enemies or found in combat areas. After beating enemies in combat encounters, just do a quick pass of the area and check for any weapons you haven’t added yet.

There are 17 items required:

  • 10 Primary Weapons
  • 2 Sidearms
  • 5 Grenades/Deployables

Primary Weapons:

Lancer MK1
Prototype Lancer
Hammerburst
Gnasher
Ripper
Breechshot
Longshot
Incinerator
Gut-Puncher
Torque Bow

Sidearms:

Snub
Striga

Grenades/Deployables:

Frag Grenade
Incendiary Grenade
Smoke Grenade
Concussion Grenade
Razor Mine

 Memories From E-Day

Find all Collectibles in the Campaign (any difficulty).

There are 140 collectibles to collect in the campaign. These are various items that need to be picked up. They’ll be added to your map when you are near them and a music tone will play. These are tracked in the pause menu in the top right corner of the screen. You can also view, “Collectibles” from the pause menu to see which ones you have.

You can follow the Gears of War: E-Day Collectible and Hard Case guide for the locations of all 125 Hard Cases.

 Side Piece

Complete all Secondary Objectives in the Campaign (any difficulty).

Secondary Objectives are basically very short side quests that you will come across when moving through the open zone sections of the game. These basically boil down to just killing enemies and speaking with NPCs. When you’re near one, it’ll be marked on your map. If you miss any of these, you can go back and clean them up via chapter select. After you’ve completed a secondary objective, make sure to not leave the area until the icon pops on screen that it has been completed. Some of these have some conversations at the end that need to be finished before it’s marked as complete.

  • Trapped Family
  • Apartment SOS
  • Lost in Translation
  • Family Reunion

  • Lone Wolf

  • Weak Signal
  • Lost in the Park
  • Rooftop Mayday

  • Trapped Locust
  • Death From Above

 Explosive Indigestion

Play a game of explosive cornhole with a Bilefrog.

You’ll encounter your first Bilefrog in Act 2 – Chapter 2: Hold the Line. They will open their mouth for a few second and shoot a corrosive ball of acid at you. In order to earn this achievement, you need to throw a grenade into its mouth while it is open. You can also use the Gut-Puncher and Heavy Boomshot to earn this achievement. Wait for the mouth to open and then throw your grenade/shoot your explosive shot at the open mouth. If you made it in, you’ll one shot the Bilefrog as it will explode from the inside.

 I Am Heavy Weapons Guy

Kill 10 enemies in a row using a single detached turret.

To earn this achievement, you need to detach a mounted turret from its emplacement and use that same turret to kill 10 enemies consecutively. The important part is that all 10 kills must come from the same detached turret. You cannot switch weapons, use another turret, or get kills with a mounted turret. You don’t have much ammo, so make sure you aren’t holding down the fire. Only shoot in bursts at enemies when you have a clear shot.

A good place to earn this is in Act 2 – Chapter 2: Hold the Line when defending the courthouse. There are a few mounted weapons here. Use one, detach it and get 10 kills with it. You’ll be fighting off waves of enemies here. It can also be earned in horde mode.

 Two Grubs, One Gut-Punch

Show two Grubs what a single Gut-Puncher round can do.

In order to earn this achievement, you’re going to need to use the Gut-Puncher grenade launcher to get two kills with a single grenade. This can be earned in chapter 4 of Act 1. Just before the end of the chapter, there will be a big fight that is before the final boss of the act. During that first fight against the waves of enemies, some of them will be using the Gut-Puncher. Pick it up and then shoot a grenade near a group of at least two enemies. One grenade has to kill both enemies. If you hold on to the Gut-Puncher for the boss fight, waves of the smaller wretch enemies will spawn. These will quickly group up as they chase you and your squad.

 Payback’s A Pitch

Take revenge on an Armored Wretch that stunned you.

You’ll first encounter armored wretches in Act 3. These enemies will run up to you and stun you by screaming. For this achievement, you need to kill the armored wretch that stunned you, while you are stunned. When you see one, let it run up to you and stun you. Your screen will be blurry while you’re stunned. Fire your weapon at the armored wretch that stunned you while your screen is blurry.

 Okay, Boomer.

Carve up a Boomer.

This can be done in campaign or in horde mode. In order to earn this, you will need to get a chainsaw melee kill against a boomer enemy. Before you can do so, you will need to damage them first. When they are weakened, run up to it and hold with the Prototype Lancer equipped to finish it off with a chainsaw kill.

 Right in the Ticker

Convert a Ticker to express air mail and return to sender.

Tickers are the small enemies that have bombs attached to their backs. In order to earn this, you need to kick one of them so that they are kicked back into an emergence hole. You can kick them by pressing when you are close to one. This can easily be earned in Act 3 – Chapter: Last Foothold when you are defending the hotel as part of the story. During that battle, there will be an emergence hole that opens up straight from where you are taking cover in front of the hotel. When it does, run up to it and kick one of the tickers that crawls out. In order for this to pop, they have to be kicked directly back into the hole.

Dead Serious

100% Campaign on Insane, 25,000 kills in Versus, max Player Level, and max 4 classes.

This achievement will span across all three of the modes in the game. You’re going to need to put some time into each mode in order to earn this achievement. There’s a checklist of things to do here. Working on these will also earn several other achievements along the way. Those will be noted below.

  • Complete the campaign on Insane

You need to complete the entire Campaign on Insane difficulty. Despite how the achievement is worded, you don’t actually have earn 100% completion while playing on Insane. You can grab all of the collectibles on any difficulty to reach 100% completion and then play again on Insane to rush through it and complete it. So, think of the “100% Campaign on Insane” as two objectives instead of one. Completing the game on Insane will earn you the, “Today We Are Canceling the Apocalypse,” achievement. When you have completed Insane and also have 100% completion, you will earn the, “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” achievement.

  • 100% Campaign

In order to complete this, you’ll need to find all 140 collectibles, 125 hard cases, unlock all 36 supply cache items, and complete all 17 secondary objectives. You can follow the Gears of War: E-Day Collectible and Hard Case guide for the locations of all 125 Hard Cases and all 140 collectibles. Reaching 100% campaign completion will earn you the following achievements, Relax. I’m the Map, Quartermaster, Memories From E-Day, and Side Piece.

  • 25,000 Kills in Versus

This will likely be the biggest time sink here. You need to have 25,000 kills in Versus mode. You can farm bots for the kills, but this is going to take a very long time to complete. Reaching 25,000 kills will also earn you the, “HEY NOW, YOU’RE AN ALL STAR…,” achievement.

  • Max Player Level

The max player level is 100 on your fourth re-up. When you reach level 100, you will need to re-up and start back over at level 1. You have to do this four times in order to max out your player rank. So, each time you hit 100, re-up and continue working on the rest of this achievement. You don’t really need to focus too much on this one as this will come as you work through the other multiplayer related tasks for this achievement. Completing this portion of the achievement will earn you both the, “Field Service,” and, “Got Your Wings,” achievements.

  • Max 4 Classes

There are four classes in Horde and they are, Assault, Breacher, Marksman, and Medic. In order to max them out, you will need to reach level 30 with each of the classes. Doing this will also earn you the, “Siege Specialist,” achievement.

Horde Siege

Just Let Me Get One More…

Get 100 Revives.

For this, you will need to revive a total of 100 teammates in horde mode. At the time of launch, this only counts revives in Horde Siege. When a teammate goes into the Down But Not Out, stage you will be able to revive them. When going for revives, you should focus on playing as the medic class and using the Stim Vaporizer to get your revives. 250 Stim Vaporizer revives are needed for the, “Down, but Not Dead,” achievement. So, you’ll be making progress toward that achievement at the same time.

 Stacks, On Stacks, On Stacks

Spend 150,000 Energy at the Supply Cache in Horde Siege (any difficulty).

 Like a Boss

Successfully complete 25 Invasion Events in Horde Siege (any difficulty).

 I WILL MASSACRE YOU

Kill 50,000 Enemies in Horde Siege (any difficulty).

 Brotector

Save another player from a struggle with a Locust.

This can be done in either Horde or the campaign. It can also be done with human co-op partners, or with CPU controlled partners. All you have to do here is attack a locust while they are grabbing your partner. This is something you’ll likely earn as you play through the campaign. When a partner is grabbed, there will be a red skull icon on screen over them. All you have to do is shoot and kill the enemy grabbing them.

 I’m All Amped Up

Maintain 30 seconds of Adrenaline with the Injector in Horde Siege.

 Turn It Up to 11

Execute 50 enemies Stunned by the Sonic Disruptor in Horde Siege.

 Down, but Not Dead

Revive 250 squadmates from DBNO with the Stim Vaporizer in Horde Siege.

In order to earn this achievement, you’re going to need to play as the medic class in Horde Siege. DBNO stands for, Down But Not Out. This is a temporary state that your squadmates will enter when they are out of health giving you some time to revive them. They’ll be marked when they enter this state. When they do, use the Stim Vaporizer to revive your squadmates. The Stim Vaporizer will revive players in a radius, so you can actually get multiple revives done at the same time if multiple squadmates are down close enough to each other. Reviving your squadmates will also earn you progress toward the, “Just Let Me Get One More…,” achievement. That one requires only 100 squadmates revived.

 Spotted and Slotted

Pulse 1,000 enemies with the Pulse Drone in Horde Siege.

 Never Fight Alone

Extract from Horde Siege with all squadmates alive on Allfather difficulty.

 Form-Up!
