This year’s Call of Duty title, Modern Warfare 4, only brings with it 18 trophies to earn. Unfortunately, this trophy list is another DLC trophy list that is attached to Modern Warfare II. So there is no Platinum trophy to be earned yet again. In addition to that, there are only trophies tied to the campaign. There are no multiplayer trophies to be found on this list.

Step 1

First, you’re going to want to play through the campaign on any difficulty you’d like. On your first playthrough of the game, you’re going to want to find all of the collectibles and earn most of the miscellaneous trophies. That’s basically the entire list anyway. You can go through on the lowest difficulty to knock all of this out, if you want.

Step 2

There are a few miscellaneous trophies that require you to play on Hardened and Veteran difficulties. After you’ve beaten a mission, it will become available in to replay via mission select. So if you didn’t play on the higher difficulties your first time through, you can easily go through and clean these up via mission select. Choose the required mission and set the difficulty to Hardened or Veteran, depending on which trophy you’re going after.

Step 3

The final step for 100% completion is going to be a playthrough on Realism difficulty. Realism difficulty is not unlocked right away, so you’re going to have to play through and beat the game on any difficulty in order to unlock Realism.

Hold the Line

Complete the game on any Difficulty.

This is a story related trophy.

Was it worth it?

Complete the game on Realism Difficulty.

Before you can play on Realism difficulty, you will need to beat the game on any difficulty at least one time. Then, Realism will be unlocked. Difficulty wise, Realism is the same as Veteran. The difference here is that you do not have a HUD.

  • Always stay behind cover. DO not be out in the open for too long.
  • Use the corner peeking mechanic when aiming at enemies.
  • Go through the missions slowly and cautiously. Do not rush it.
  • You won’t be able to see your ammo count, so try to keep track of it as best you can and switch weapons when necessary.
  • Make use of all of your gear, grenades, explosives, drones etc.
  • You can turn on High Contrast Mode if needed. This will outline enemies, friendlies and civilians all in different colors. This will help you clearly see the enemy and know where they are. Settings -> Interface -> Readability -> High Contrast Mode.

Skeet Shooting

Kill 10 paratroopers in ‘Mayhem’ before they hit the ground.

This is earned during the first mission of the game, Mayhem. Shortly after the beginning of the mission, you’ll go through a building and come out onto a baseball field. It’ll be the first combat encounter of the game. Enemies will be parachuting in as soon as you step out. You need to kill 10 enemies as they are parachuting before they land on the ground. The window for this is pretty tight. The soldiers will be coming in quick and there aren’t that many waves of them. For the initial wave, aim at the enemies coming closer to you and then look up and to the left. There will be a wave drifting off farther to the left. They’ll be up in the air for a while. So aim for them and then quickly get back to the right to get a few more kills before they land. You only need to hit them with a single shot to kill them. Try to shoot in bursts to save ammo and aim just ahead of where the enemies are drifting toward. You’re going to need to lead them a bit in order to hit them. Especially the ones that are further away. If you run out of ammo, switch to the pistol instead of reloading. If the trophy doesn’t pop, you can reload the checkpoint and try again.

Safety’s On

Defeat all enemies in the kitchen of ‘Out in the Cold’ without firing your gun on Hardened or harder

For this trophy, you’re going to want to try on Hardened difficulty. It can be done on higher ones, but you’ll die quicker. So just stick to Hardened. There are five enemies in the kitchen area that you need to take out and you cannot use your gun at all. Do not shoot even one time. This is tricky because it is a small space and there is not a lot of cover. You’ll need to use your fists to take all five enemies in the kitchen. As you enter the kitchen, the enemies will rush in from the back side and immediately start shooting at you. You can’t fight them one at a time in here, you’ll be killed too quickly. So, you’re going to want to pick up the bottles found in the kitchen and throw them at the enemies. When you hit an enemy with a bottle, they’ll drop their gun and run up to you to fist fight you. So when you hit an enemy with a bottle, turn around and quickly run out of the kitchen and back into the hallway you just came from. The enemy that dropped his gun will chase you out. Let him get close and knock him out with your fists. Return to the kitchen and repeat the process. You can do this one by one. There are two bottles right in front of you as you enter the kitchen. There are two more on the right side along the ovens. If you can lure out four enemies using the bottle method, you won’t need a bottle for the last enemy. You can just make use of cover and get in close and fight the last enemy in the kitchen to finish this off.

There is an enemy outside of the kitchen as you approach it, I don’t know if this one counts toward the trophy, so just play it safe and beat him your fists.

Can’t touch this

Defeat Makarov on Veteran difficulty or higher without getting hit in the alley.

You will need to play on Veteran difficulty in order to earn this trophy. You can even get this on your Realism playthrough. The difficulty level of Realism is Veteran. The difference is that you don’t have a HUD. His attacks are pretty easy to block once you get the timing down. This will take place at the end of the mission, Out in the Cold. You’ll have a pretty lengthy chase scene with Makarov toward the end. When you do finally catch up to him, you’ll have to fist fight him. In order to earn this trophy, Makarov cannot land a single hit on you. You need to press just before he hits you in order to block his attacks. When you have an opening, you can hit him back with . If you get hit, you can reload the checkpoint to try again. There is a checkpoint right where the fight starts, and one in the middle of the fight. After a successful block, only hit him about two times and then back up to get ready to block him. If you hit him too much after blocking his attacks, he’ll hit you. So get a couple of shots in and then back up and get ready to repeat the process again.

No Stone Unturned

Confiscate all of the contraband and read all of the notes in ‘Following Orders’.

During the, Following Orders, Chapter, you’ll be searching houses. In order to earn this trophy, you need to read all notes and find all pieces of contraband in the houses. There are three house that you will search. The first house has four pieces of contraband and two notes. The third house that you search has the final two notes. One of the notes in the third house will require you to use a key to open a hidden door on the floor in the kitchen area of the third house. The key is in a cabinet in a side room of the third house.

You can follow along with the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 Collectible Guide for the exact locations.

No Harm Done

Obtain the defector’s location in ‘Following Orders’ without hurting any civilians.

At the beginning of the mission, you’ll be searching a house for contraband and questioning the civilians that live there. While you’re searching that house, do not attack the civilians at all. When speaking to them, do not choose any of the violent options. This will pop after you’ve searched the house and asked them about the contraband they were hiding. This trophy only applies to the first house that you search. For the man, ask him the about the contraband you found. For the woman, just ask her to join her husband.

Bullet Train

Kill 50 enemies while standing on train cars in ‘Hired Gun’.

This takes place over the entirety of the mission, Hired Gun. As you progress through the mission, you’ll be making your way across a trainyard. There will also be enemies firing at you. In order to earn this trophy, you need to kill 50 total enemies over the course of the mission while you are standing on a train car. It does not matter what type of car, or if it is moving or not. You just need to be on a train car when you kill enemies. As previously mentioned, this takes place over the entirety of the mission. So you aren’t going to be killing 50 from one car. As you kill enemies, you can drop down and move to a different car that has a better vantage point. You really just need to pay attention to the areas you are fighting in. Always keep an eye out for any train cars when enemies are attacking. Try not to kill anyone until you’ve made it onto a train car. There will be multiple sections featuring train cars through out the mission. So just try to maximize the amount of kills from train cars as you can through out the mission.

Raining Thunder

Kill 15 enemies with 3 mortar rounds in a row in ‘Losing Ground’.

The wording on this one might be a little deceiving. You don’t need 15 kills three rounds in a row. You need to have killed 15 enemies total within 3 rounds in a row. Wait for the enemies to stop running so that they group up. If you need, you can take some practice shots at where they group up so you know what setting to use on the mortar. When you’re comfortable judging distance, reload your checkpoint and go for the trophy. The first large group on the left will bunch up after they stop running. Then, the next wave will come from the right. There won’t be that many enemies in the first wave on the right, so wait for the next wave. Don’t fire a mortar. Just wait for that second right side wave and there will be a lot. You can fire two shots off at that second wave and it should pop the trophy.

Revenge

Kill everyone after Shin dies in ‘Assassins’ on Hardened or harder difficulty.

When Shin dies, you will need to kill everyone else from that point on to the end of the mission. The hardest part of this trophy will be the first combat encounter. There are eight enemies that will spawn and investigate where Shin was killed. When you start this section, go down the left side stairs and take out as many enemies as you can with stealth takedowns using the knife. Pick up guns just in case you are spotted. Stay crouched and use stealth as much as you can in this first section. Once you get passed that part of the mission, it’ll become much easier. When you enter the kitchen, pick up the throwing knives. You can use these to silently kill enemies. They will one shot enemies, so make sure to spam these. As long as you stay crouched, you can move through the rest of the areas taking enemies out fairly quickly with the throwing knives. Just make sure to pick your knives up after throwing them. Make sure to do one more pass of the final area before entering the bunker at the statue. There are four enemies that will spawn in when you open the door behind the statue, so go get them before entering the bunker.

Pacifist

Complete ‘Assassins’ by only killing one enemy.

This trophy begins when you are given the knife during the Assassin mission. Shortly after getting the knife, you will have to kill one of the enemies as part of the story. After that one enemy is dead, you cannot kill anymore enemies for the rest of the mission. You’re going to have to sneak through the rest of the mission until you reach the final room. If you’re spotted, you can reload your checkpoint and try again. You can just inch your way through the mission using checkpoint reloads if you need it.

Time to Crate

Open every Yellow Supply Crate in ‘Stranded’.

There are 26 Yellow Crates to find and all of them are found in the mission, Stranded. See the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 Collectible Guide for the exact locations of the Yellow Supply Crates.

Scavenger

Repair everything in Base Camp.

This is earned during the mission, Stranded. This will be a big open map for you to explore. As you do, you’ll be coming across “Supplies.” You want to make sure you pick these up anytime you find. They are pretty common. Supplies are what you use to repair items in the Base Camp during this mission. As you progress through the mission, more items will become available to repair. You will need to repair the following:

  • Pistol Underbarrel Shotgun – 5
  • Make Semtex – 5
  • Make Molotovs – 5
  • Silenced Thermal Sniper – 20
  • Snow Ghillie Suit – 15
  • Tactical Boots – 20
  • Tactical Gloves – 15
  • Scoped LMG – 30
  • Grenade Launcher – 15
  • Mortar – 30
  • Silencer For Vulcan Sniper Rifle – 10
    • This will likely be the item that most players have left over. This can be acquired by picking up the KG-7 Vulcan Sniper Rifle from the SAM Site main objective marker. It will be propped up just in front of the statue at the marker. Pick that rifle up and then return to the Base Camp. The silencer should now be on your table and ready for repair.

Incoming!

Destroy every vehicle reinforcement at the SAM Site before they unload in ‘Stranded’.

During the mission, Stranded, you’ll be on a big open map with three main objectives that you can complete in whichever order you’d like. One of those objectives is the SAM Site. That is where this trophy will take place. As you approach the statue at the SAM Site, your squad mates will start planting explosives on the SAMs. That will spawn a wave of trucks that are driving in from the bridge to your location. In order to earn this trophy, you need to blow up every vehicle that comes before the soldiers can jump out. For this, you can grab proximity mines and drones from the cases next to the statue. Quickly plant the mines down the roads and then use the drones to blow up the trucks as they approach. The trucks will come down two ways, left and right paths toward the statue. Get a drone up high so you can see when they’re coming and from where. Fly down on them an detonate the drone. The final vehicle will be an armored one, so that will take multiple drone hits. As mentioned before, you can use the proximity mines. These are a good back up if you can plant them quickly enough before the trucks appear. Just make sure to plant them somewhat down the road to ensure that they’ll actually drive over them. If a vehicle gets past a drone, they’ll drive over the mine if planted in the right places. You can restart the checkpoint if you need to try again.

Long Shot

Snipe all 4 enemies firing the mortars in ‘Counter Attack’.

Make your way through the mission until you are on the roof of the hotel. After clearing it, you’ll have to provide support to friendly soldiers down on the street. Once the vehicles start showing up, the mortar teams will spawn shortly after taking out the first vehicle. There are two mortar teams. Each one has two enemies. You need to pick up the sniper rifle laying on the ground next to the rocket launcher and use it to kill the four enemies using mortars. The first mortar team will spawn on the building in the middle of the area on the left side of the roof after you destroy the first vehicle. The second mortar team will spawn on the building to the left of the middle building after killing the sniper. They’ll be a little further back. As soon as you shoot one, the other will start running away. If the other runs too far, he will have gotten away and you’ll need to restart the checkpoint and try again.

Never Forgotten

Recover the Dog Tags in ‘Escape’.

During the mission, Escape, you’ll need to pick up a set of Dog Tags as you are moving through the mission. This is a multi step trophy. The Dog Tags are in a safe, but you need to find two notes in order to open the safe.

Note #1 – Confiscation Protocol Reminder

After fighting the enemy at the very beginning of the mission, go down the hallway and enter the first open door on your left. This note is on the desk by the grated window.

Note #2 – Updated Code

After crawling through the vent and then killing the enemy you sneak up on, you’ll pass by a room that has a grated window on your left. There’s a guard inside, but will leave if you wait him out. When he leaves, go inside of that room to find this note on the desk by the window. This will be when the enemies are taking about being reassigned and are having to hurry.

Dog Tags

Regroup with Ghost and make your way through the mission. After fighting through the bunk room with all of the beds, exit this room and open the first door on your right after the bunk room. It’ll be immediate. Go into that side room and then input 8410 on the safe on the wall to open it. Grab the dog tags from the safe.

Trench Broom

In ‘Entrenched’, kill 15 enemies with a shotgun before securing the Target Building.

At the very beginning of the mission, switch to your secondary weapon. It’s a shotgun. Make your way through the trenches killing enemies with the shotgun. There are enough enemies in the trenches to get this before you even head for the target building. Enemies will drop shotguns in the trenches as well, so you’ll have plenty of ammo.

Noteworthy

Read 50 different Notes.

There are 64 notes found across three different missions. 58 of those are found during the mission, Stranded. So you don’t need them all, just 50. Missions can be replayed via Mission select and your collectible data is saved differently than mission checkpoint data. So you can go back and clean up anything you didn’t grab. See the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 4 Collectible Guide for the exact locations of the notes.
