The original Twisted Metal has been added to the PlayStation Network and it comes with a Trophy list that includes a Platinum!
This is an overall quick and easy list to complete. There are a few miscellaneous Trophies to earn along with some story related ones as well.
This Trophy would be a bit of a time sink, but there is a quick way to avoid that. There are 12 characters to play as in the game and there is a Trophy tied to each one for beating the game with them. Fortunately, there is a way around having to fully play through the game 12 times.
You will need to beat the full game at least once. There are level specific Trophies that you’ll need to earn during that step. But after you have beaten the game at least once, you can then input a code that will take you straight to the final level. You can select a character that you need, input the code, play the final level and the Trophy will pop for that character upon beating the final level. More on that process under “Candy Bag.”
So you’ll need one full play through and 11 final level replays in order to earn this Platinum Trophy.
Other Codes
There are other codes that can be used, but they will disable Trophies. The only code that will not disable Trophies is the code that takes you to the final level.
Make your own checkpoint
Just like with the previous PS Classics, Twisted Metal allows you to press Options and rewind gameplay as well as make saves anywhere.
This makes the game incredibly easy to get through. If at any point you die, mess something up or take too much damage. You can press Options to rewind your gameplay and try whatever you did again. You can essentially make this a trial and error system.

Complete level 1, Arena Duel.
This is an unmissable story related Trophy.
Not Here to Deliver
Complete level 2, Warehouse District Warfare.
This is an unmissable story related Trophy.
Highway to Carnage
Complete level 3, Freeway Free for All.
This is an unmissable story related Trophy.
Water Is for People, Not Cars
Complete level 4, River Park Rumble.
This is an unmissable story related Trophy.
Watch Out for Pedestrians
Complete level 5, Assault on Cyburbia.
This is an unmissable story related Trophy.

Complete level 6, Rooftop Combat.
This is an unmissable story related Trophy.
Tank You for the Memories
Complete the final round and defeat Minion.
After you beat the sixth level, the final boss, Minion, will spawn.
Minion packs quite a punch with his attacks, but there is a way to make this fight somewhat easier.
- Blow up the pyramid in the middle of the area.
- Drop down into the room where the pyramid was. There are missile and health regens down there.
- Back into the straight hallway that leads out and wait.
- Minion will drop into the area to come after you. When he starts to go down the hallway you’re in, drive back into the main room.
- Minion will not follow you back out of the tunnel into the room. He will only drive out through the window. There is also a chance that he will be stuck sideways which allows you to repeatedly attack him.
- If he leaves, you can wait for him to comeback. While you wait, the missiles and health station will replenish over time, so you can refill.
Candy Bag
Collect your winning prize as Sweet Tooth.
In order to earn this, and all of the other character specific Trophies, you’re going to have to beat the final level with each character. There is one Trophy per character for this.
You can play through the entire game 12 times, or you can take a bit of a shortcut.
You will need to play through the full game at least once in order to earn the level specific Trophies. After that first full playthrough is done, you can jump straight to the final level with the use of a code.
- Select a character.
- Select “Options”
- Enter the following code,
- After the code has been entered, press Start (right half of the TouchPad)
- Start the game and you’ll be taken to the very last level.
You can repeat those steps listed above for each character which will earn you the character specific Trophies by only playing the final level.

Freefalling
Cause either yourself or your opponent to fall off the rooftop in the Rooftop Combat level.
This is earned during the sixth level.
As soon as the level starts, turn around drive off of the top of the building. This will pop after you crash into the ground.
Pump ’em Full of Lead
Defeat an opponent with the machine gun.
The machine gun is your default basic weapon. You fire it with 
.
The final strike has to be done by using the 
machine gun.
If You Can’t Beat Them, Ram Them
Defeat an opponent with collision damage.
Whittle down an enemy health bar. When it is very low, simply drive into them to cause the final bit of damage with a collision.
The final strike has to be done by crashing into them.
I Have a Special Power
Defeat an opponent with a special weapon.
Special weapons are used by pressing 
. Each vehicle has a special weapon. It will say, “Special” in the bottom right corner when selected.
With the special weapon selected, fire it with 
. In order to get this, the final strike that kills an enemy has to be done via special weapon.
Resourceful Driver
Collect 5 weapons in any level.
There will be weapons laying around the combat area. Weapons can also be revealed by destroying objects in the environment.
They look like pink bubbles on the ground. All you have to do is drive over them to collect them. Collect any 5 during a single level in order to earn this.
Can’t Hide from Me
Destroy all Calypso crates in the Arena Duel level.
This is earned during the first level.
There are 2 big crates that say, “Calyspo” on them. All you have to do is shoot them to destroy them.
You have to be the one to destroy them. If your opponent destroys one or both, it will not count and you will need rewind and try again.
You Shouldn’t Have Parked There
Eliminate a car in the Warehouse District Warfare level.
This is earned during the second level.
There will be cars parked on the side of the road during the second level. All you have to do is destroy one of them to pop this.
You Thought a Barrier Would Stop Me?
Blast through a road work site on the Freeway Free for All level.
This is earned during the third level.
The road work is an area that is blocked off by signs. There are short tunnels that lead to the area.
All you have to do is drive through the signs to earn this Trophy.
Strategic Break
Drive through an alley in the River Park Rumble level.
This is earned during the fourth level.
There will be alleys that cut between some of the buildings. All you have to do is drive down one of them.
It has to look like the alley pictured below in order to count. There are other shortcuts that look like alleys, but they do not count for this.
Can I Ban the Van?
Eliminate a van in the Assault on Cyburbia level.
This is earned during the fifth level.
There are white vans parked around the map. All you have to do here is destroy one of the parked white vans.
Pyramid Secret
Destroy the pyramid on the Rooftop Combat level.
This is earned during the sixth level.
There is a big pyramid in the center of the map. All you have to do is damage it until it blows up.
I did the requirements for the Freefalling trophy, but the trophy hasn’t popped not yet anyhow.
