Synapse Trophy Guide

Welcome to the Synapse Trophy guide! Just a head’s up before we begin, this game can only be played with PSVR2.

5/10 Estimated Difficulty
8-12 Estimated Hours to Completion
Player Dependent – Minimum Playthrough – This is dependent on how long it takes you beat the game as this is a rougelike. Replaying zones is a mechanic of the game.
0 Missable Trophies

Synapse is a rougelike. So you’re going to be playing zones repeatedly as you try to beat the game.

Your Revelations

The Trophies below correspond to in-game accomplishments. These are called Revelations. Most of these, you’ll get without having to go out of your way for them. There are only a handful that will require you to actively try for them.

In addition to earning Trophies, completing Revelations is key to getting through the game. Completing Revelations will earn you points that you can spend on permanent upgrades. The more of these upgrades you unlock, the easier Synapse gets. That might sound obvious, but the game really does get significantly easier the deeper you get into the skill trees.

There are some Revelations on the more difficult side, but they do not have Trophies attached to them. As previously mentioned, this Trophy list is made up of the easier more manageable Revelations.

Stat Tracking

The PlayStation 5 Trophy list will not track your stacks, but the in-game Revelation screen will track them. You can also track your incomplete Revelations during a run by pausing the game.

 Synaptic Perfection

Collect all trophies.

 Embrace the Subconscious

Reach the Subconscious.

See the Trophy, “The Truth is Subjective” below for more details.

 The Truth is Subjective

Finish the game.

This is earned for beating all of the zones in a single run. The zones are basically broken up into chapter like segments.

As you complete a segment of zones, you’ll earn a Trophy. The following Trophies are earned by making it all the way through.

  • Let Go of Preconception
  • Embrace the Subconsious
  • The Truth is Subjective

It is going to take a few tries to get all the way through at first. The deeper you get into the permanent upgrade skill trees, the significantly easier the game will become.

To be more specific, increasing your health, buying the grenade launcher and the Brutal Mind skill will really turn this game around in terms of difficulty.

Necessity Is the Mother of Invention

Complete Revelation “Necessity Is the Mother of Invention”.

This Revelation is earned by using telekinesis to hold a block in front of you while being shot at. You essentially just need to use the blocks as shields. Get behind a block and then use your mental abilities to hold it so that it blocks incoming fire.

You only need to block 10 shots doing this. This will likely be completing against the same enemy.

The Best Defence is a Strong Offence

Complete Revelation “The Best Defence Is a Strong Offence”.

This Revelation is earned by killing 10 enemies while you’re holding cover.

In order to do that, get behind cover and grab it with your non dominant hand. So it would be either or depending on you. Once you’re grabbing the cover, use your non dominant hand and raise it up so that you duck down behind the cover. All you have to do now is kill enemies while you’re holding on to that cover. It does not need to be 10 all at once. It is cumulative.

 Everything Has a Weakness

Complete Revelation “Everything Has a Weakness”.

This Revelation is earned by killing enemies with critical shots.  All you have to do here is get kills via headshot.

  • Step I – 50 Kills
  •  Step II – 250 Kills

 Practice Makes Perfect

Complete Revelation “Practice Makes Perfect”.

This Revelation is earned by killing 100 enemies with your pistol. This is something that will come over time as you work your way through the game.

 The Nail That Sticks Out

Complete Revelation “The Nail That Sticks Out”.

This Revelation is earned by killing enemies with the blocks that you can pick up with your mental abilities. Use your non dominant hand to grab a block and bash an enemy with it until they are dead.

You only need to get 10 kills with a block for this. It does not need to be the same block either.

 Fools Seldom Differ

Complete Revelation “Fools Seldom Differ”.

This Revelation is earned by killing enemies. This will come over time as killing enemies is the required objective for getting through the various missions. It may sound like a lot of kills, but it goes by quickly. The later zones have a lot of enemies and the kills come quick once you are deep into the permanent skill trees.

  • I – 30 Kills
  • II – 300 Kills
  • III – 800 Kills
  • IV – 1,500 Kills

Completing all four steps will unlock the “Fools Seldom Differ,” “Fools Seldom Differ II,” “Fools Seldom Differ III” and “Fools Seldom Differ IV” Trophies.

 A Light Touch Is Required

Complete Revelation “A Light Touch Is Required”.

This Revelation is earned by killing 30 enemies with exploding barrels.

The barrels will be all over each of the zones. You can shoot them or use your mental abilities with your non dominant hand to blow them up.

 A Stitch in Time

Complete Revelation “A Stitch in Time”.

This Revelation is earned by getting an S rank on any zone.

Time is the deciding factor here, so you’re going to want to run through killing enemies as quickly as you can. The first level is a good option for this as it has the fewest enemies and only contains the basic enemy type.

This is something more easily done after you have familiarized yourself with the game and are deep into the permanent upgrade trees.

 First Impressions Last

Complete Revelation “First Impressions Last”.

This Revelation is earned by killing 10 enemies by bashing them into walls.

In order to bash enemies, you’re going to have the buy the Brutal Mind permanent Upgrade from the Tactician skill tree.

Use your non dominant hand to grab an enemy with Telekinesis and then swing your arm up and down to smash them into the ground or a wall. Repeat that for 10 enemies.

 Reason Is Not Automatic

Complete Revelation “Reason Is Not Automatic”.

This Revelation is earned by getting 100 kills with the SMG.

In order to get this, you’re going to have to first buy the Fully Autonomic permanent skill from the Assassin skill tree. Once you have done that, the SMG will start appearing at weapon shrines in each zone.

Make sure to also buy the Clairvoyance permanent upgrade from the Tactician skill tree so that the weapon shrine locations will appear on your non dominant hand map.

You Buy Cheap You Buy Twice

Complete Revelation “You Buy Cheap You Buy Twice”.

This Revelation is earned by buying three items from the same Defiance Node.

In order to get this, you’re going to have to save up your Defiance. If you don’t buy anything, it is going to cost 350 Defiance to buy all three items from a node. Play through the zones saving your Defiance until you have 350. Once you do, go buy all three items from the same Node.

This is fairly easy to get on its own, but it can be made even easier by buying the Determination permanent skills from the Tactician skill tree. There are three versions of Determination and they allow you to keep your Defiance after a death. You’ll start your next run with either 100, 300 or 500 Defiance. This depends on how many versions you have bought.

 No Rest for the Wicked

Complete Revelation “No Rest for the Wicked”.

This Revelation is earned by completing zones. A zone is a mission. All you have to do is kill all of the enemies and exit the zone through the door to complete it.

This is something that will come over time as you work your way through the game.

  • Step I – 2 Zones
  • Step II – 5 Zones
  • Step III – 15 Zones

Completing all three steps will unlock the “No Rest for the Wicked,” “No Rest for the Wicked II” and “No Rest for the Wicked III” Trophies.

 If You Play with Fire

Complete Revelation “If You Play with Fire”.

This Revelation is earned by killing Fury enemies. These are the enemies that rush you and explode. They will be introduce to you as progress through the zones.

200 Kills might seem like a lot, but there are some zones that can only have the Fury enemy type. So it can go by somewhat quickly.

  • Step I – 50 Kills
  • Step II – 200 Kills

Completing the two steps will unlock the “If You Play with Fire” and “If You Play with Fire II” Trophies.

You Can’t Take It with You

Complete Revelation “You Can’t Take It with You”.

This Revelation is earned by spending Defiance. Defiance is a currency earned by killing enemies, completing zones and by collecting off of bush like objects during missions. It is red petal like objects that really stand out against the black and white zones.

You can spend Defiance at Defiance Nodes during missions.

  • Step I – 2,000
  • Step II – 5,000
  • Step III – 9,000

This can be made easier by buying the Determination permanent skills from the Tactician skill tree. There are three versions of Determination and they allow you to keep your Defiance after a death. You’ll start your next run with either 100, 300 or 500 Defiance. This depends on how many versions you have bought.

Completing all three steps will unlock the “You Can’t Take It with You,” “You Can’t Take It with You II” and “You Can’t Take It with You III” Trophies.

 Talent Means Nothing Without Precision

Complete Revelation “Talent Means Nothing Without Precision”.

This Revelation is earned by killing 25 enemies in a zone with critical hits. This means that you will need to focus on getting headshot kills during a single zone. Take your time and pick your shots.

You will need to start over if you die or if you finish a zone with less than 25.

This is best done on the third and later zones. There aren’t enough enemies in the first zone to get this and the second zone usually feature the Fury enemy types. They can be difficult to head shot.

This is something more easily done when you are more familiar with the game and have a lot of permanent upgrades unlocked. When you’re stronger, you can afford to get a little closer to enemies to make sure you’re getting a head shot.

Everything Comes to He Who Waits

Complete Revelation “Everything Comes to He Who Waits”.

This Revelation is earned by picking up a Version 3 Mindhack.

Mindhacks are temporary upgrades that appear after you complete a zone. They will be right in front of the exit portal and you will need to select one.

These are random, so you’re going to have to be on lookout for them after completing a zone.

You’ll know when one spawns as it will say “V3.0” in the title. Make sure to check each one before deciding so you don’t miss one by mistake.

You can also buy the White Hat Psionics permanent skill from the Tactician skill tree to boost your odds a bit. This skill will give you a third Mindhack at each portal. In addition to that, you can buy the Black Hat Psionics permanent skill which you will present you with Mindhacks before starting your run. This will give you an extra shot at finding one.

Make the First Shot Your Best

Complete Revelation “Make the First Shot Your Best”.

This Revelation is earned by getting 100 kills with the shotgun.

In order to get this, you’re going to have to first buy the Synaptic Shot permanent skill from the Assassin skill tree. Once you have done that, the shotgun will start appearing at weapon shrines in each zone.

Make sure to also buy the Clairvoyance permanent upgrade from the Tactician skill tree so that the weapon shrine locations will appear on your non dominant hand map.

 The Bigger they Are

Complete Revelation “The Bigger they Are”.

This Revelation is earned by killing the Behemoth enemy types. You’ll be introduced to them as you progress through the later zones on a run.

In order to kill them, you’re going to have to hold Telekinesis on their armor until it rips off. Once it does, there will be a bright white weak spot in the center of their stomach/chest area. Focus all of your fire on these weak points and they’ll go down fairly quickly.

The Behemoth will first appear as mid zone boss, but will then spawn in other zones after killing them for the first time. It is also possible for more than one to spawn in a zone. There will be many of these in the final zones, so the kills will come at a good pace.

  • Step I – 3 Kills
  • Step II – 15 Kills
  • Step III – 35 Kills

Completing all three steps will unlock the “The Bigger they Are,” “The Bigger they Are II” and “The Bigger they Are III” Trophies.

 Everything Has a Weakness II

Complete Revelation “Everything Has a Weakness II”.

See the Trophy, “Everything Has a Weakness” above for more information.

 What Goes Up

Complete Revelation “What Goes Up”.

This Revelation is earned by killing Sentinels. These are the flying enemy type that are introduced in the later zones.

They can be a little tricky to hit as they move quickly when shot at. The easiest way to kill them is to use Telekinesis. Grab them and pull them down to you. Shoot them as much as you can while they are down near you.

  • Step I – 10 Kills
  • Step II – 50 Kills

Once you have bought the Mind Grenades permanent upgrade, you can then use the grenade launcher to kill 10 of them which will also unlock the “A Bird in the Hand” Trophy. Use the same method as above. Pull them down and then spam them with grenades.

If You Play with Fire II

Complete Revelation “If You Play with Fire II”.

See the Trophy, “If You Play with Fire” above for more information.

A Taste of their Own Medicine

Complete Revelation “A Taste of their Own Medicine”.

This Revelation is earned by killing 30 enemies with their own grenades.

When you’re starting out, this can be worked on by shooting an enemy just before they throw a grenade. They’ll drop it and be killed as long as they are near the blast.

This becomes much easier after you have unlocked the Focused Mind permanent upgrade. This will allow you to use Telekinesis to pick up or catch thrown grenades. Don’t push the trigger in all the way when grabbing a grenade. Once you have caught one, get it near the enemy and then push the trigger in all the way to detonate the grenade.

If there is some distance between you and an enemy, you can sort of bait them into throwing one at you by taking cover and waiting. As soon as they throw it, grab it and detonate it near them.

 Fools Seldom Differ III

See the Trophy, “No Rest for the Wicked” above for more information.

 Nothing Is Permanent Except Change

Complete Revelation “Nothing Is Permanent Except Change”.

This Revelation is earned by getting at least one kill with every weapon type in a single run.

Before you can do this, you’re going to have to buy the following permanent skills from the Assassin skill tree:

  • Fully Autonomic – SMG
  • Synaptic Shot – Shotgun
  • Mind Grenades – Grenade Launcher

It is unclear if the handgun counts for this as well, so make sure to get a kill with it just to be safe.

Once you have them all unlocked, you’ll then need to pick each one up from a weapon shrine. This is going to take place over the course of several zones until they have all appeared.

Each time you begin a zone, head to the weapon shrine and check what weapons have spawned in the shrine. Grab the one you need and get at least one kill with it.

This is random, so make sure to get started on this in the very first zone when attempting it to maximize the weapon shrine opportunities.

Make sure to also buy the Clairvoyance permanent upgrade from the Tactician skill tree so that the weapon shrine locations will appear on your non dominant hand map.

See the Trophy, “The Bigger they Are” above for more information.

 Dare to Dream Bigger

Complete Revelation “Dare to Dream Bigger”.

This Revelation is earned by killing 100 enemies with the Grenade Launcher.

In order to get this, you’re going to have to first buy the Mind Grenades permanent skill from the Assassin skill tree. Once you have done that, the Grenade Launcher will start appearing at weapon shrines in each zone.

Make sure to also buy the Clairvoyance permanent upgrade from the Tactician skill tree so that the weapon shrine locations will appear on your non dominant hand map.

Your Mind Is the Deadliest Weapon

Complete Revelation “Your Mind Is the Deadliest Weapon”.

This Revelation is earned by beating a zone without using any weapon. You can only use your Telekinesis ability to kill enemies.

Before doing this, you’re going to want to have bought the Brutal Mind permanent skill from the Tactician skill tree. This will allow you to pick up enemies with Telekinesis.

Once you have that, this can be easily done on the first zone. It has the easiest enemy types and the lowest enemy count.

Simply run through the zone grabbing and throwing enemies until they are dead. If you throw them far enough or hard enough, they will be killed in a single throw.

You Can’t Take It with You III

Complete Revelation “You Can’t Take It with You III”.

See the Trophy, “You Can’t Take It with You” above for more information.

 Fools Seldom Differ IV

Complete Revelation “A Bird in the Hand”.

See the Trophy, “What Goes Up” above for more details.

 The Bigger they Are III

Complete Revelation “The Bigger they Are III”.

See the Trophy, “The Bigger they Are” above for more information.

 Many Birds One Stone

Complete Revelation “Many Birds One Stone”.

This Revelation is earned by killing at least three enemies with the same explosive barrel.

The explosive barrels will be littered across the zones. You won’t have any trouble finding them as they are very common.

There will be more enemies in the later zones, so they’ll group up more later on in your run.

The enemy spawn points are random, so just remember to be on the lookout for three enemies near a barrel. When you see enough, you can either shoot the barrel, or detonate it with Telekinesis.

If there is no barrel near a group of three, you can also pick one up from elsewhere and throw it near them by using Telekinesis.

 Let Go of Preconception

Reach the Conscious.

See the Trophy, “The Truth is Subjective” above for more details.

 Death is Not the End

Die once.

This will be the first Trophy you earn in the game. You’ll need to die in order to advance the game in the early stages.
