Welcome to the Gears of War: Reloaded COG Tag guide!
There are only 33 COG Tags to collect throughout the game. Most of them are pretty easily found as the game is linear. There are sections of the game where you will and your squad will need to split up. You get to choose what path to go down. There are no collectibles found during those sections. You do not have to worry about picking the “wrong” path when going for the Tags. As soon as they are picked up, they are saved as collected.
If you happen to miss any of them, you can load up the Act as well as the required chapter and collect whichever one(s) was missed.
When you see the Crimson Omen logo painted in the environment, that means there is a Tag very close by, so keep an eye out for those.
Act 1 – Ashes
Cog Tag 1
This is found in the room after deciding to go to Combat or Training at the very beginning of the game. As soon as you enter the room, go to the very back to find the Cog Tag on the ground in front of the pile of debris.
Cog Tag 2
This is found in the next combat room. There will be a big blue banner hanging above the exit. When staring at the exit after killing the all of the enemies, this tag is found in the back left side of the room behind the big pile of rubble.
Cog Tag 3
For this next Tag, you will need to be quick. If you take too long, the gameplay section will end. Exit the previous combat room and go left up the nearby stairs. At the top of the stairs, go left to find these on the ground.
Trial By Fire
Cog Tag 4
This is in the combat area after going up the stairs at the beginning of the chapter. It will be on the ground behind cover in the middle of the area. Just to the right of the Gears logo.
Cog Tag 5
This is found inside of the firs building you enter during the chapter. It will be in the back left corner of the room on the ground. Two Emergence holes will open up in the this room. The second Emergence hole will open right next to this Cog Tag. It will also be just to the left of the exit.
Fish in a Barrel
Cog Tag 6
This is found in the area with the fountain where the Emergence holes open up. It is on the ground near the 2 blocked off staircases and the big cog on the wall to the left.
Knock Knock
Cog Tag 7
This is found outside of the House of Sovereigns to the left of the white van parked on the stairs.
Hammer
Cog Tag 8
This is found in the hallway where you have to defend Jack while it cuts through a door. After killing all of the enemies, head down the hallway toward the boarded up window to find this on the right side.
Cog Tag 9
This is found just to the right of Rojas’ body. You’ll come across it as part of the story.
China Shop
Cog Tag 10
As soon as you get control at the beginning of the chapter, turn around and follow the short hallway. This will be on the right of that hallway at the end.
Cog Tag 11
While luring the Berserker, you’ll need to get it to smash through 3 doors. This is found in the room with the third door that needs to be smashed. It is to the left of the door.
Cog Tag 12
After luring the Berserker outside, go to the left. Follow the left wall to the red gear icon on the wall. This is just behind the that red gear icon.

Act II Nightfall
Grist
Cog Tag 13
At the very beginning of the chapter, look down the stairs to your right to find this just behind three big blocks.
Cog Tag 14
As you progress through the chapter, you’ll go through a room that you cross by using a catwalk. When you exit that building, go down the stairs and then go under those same stairs to find this tag next to a dumpster.
Cog Tag 15
This is found outside of the Stranded’s Settlement behind three trash cans and a burning barrel. Grab this before entering.
Lethal Dusk
Cog Tag 16
When heading for Checkpoint 2 as part of the story, you’ll come to a road where you need to shoot propane tanks in order to create light. At the end of this street where the enemies spawned, look left to see an open door with a propane tank inside. Shoot the tank to light the room and head inside to find this tag.
Cog Tag 17
After using the spotlight to guide Dom down the street, point the spotlight over at the left where Dom started. You can see the tag from the light. Point the light at the tag and leave it there. Go back down to the street and pick it up.
Dark Labyrinth
Cog Tag 18
After the spotlight section, you and Dom will have to make your way through a building by lighting propane tanks and sawing through a cabinet. As soon as you exit that building, look to your immediate right to see these Tags laying on the ground.
Act III Cog Tags ->
Act III – Belly of the Beast
Downpour
Cog Tag 19
Make your way through the chapter until you have to find an entrance to the factory. As you progress through toward the entrance, you’ll pass through the outside of the factory along the water. There will be a building on your right with a “3” on it. Turn right at this building and follow the path onto the dock and go to the very end to find this tag.
Evolution
Cog Tag 20
Progress through the chapter until you reach the area where the floorboards you’re walking on can break. This Tag is on the right side of that same room. You can take the immediate right when first stepping on the boards to reach the area. The Tag will then be ahead. You can walk across the the small boards on the left up against the machinery all the way up. Once you reach the top, take the very last row of boards over to the Tag.
Coalition Cargo
Cog Tag 21
Proceed to the cart control room. After interacting with the control panel, exit the room and go down the small set of stairs and look to the immediate right of those stairs to find this Tag. Be careful not to get too close to the cart or the chapter will automatically progress.
Darkest Before Dawn
Cog Tag 22
Ride the platforms down. At the bottom, take the path until it splits into three directions Don’t go down either slope yet on the left. Instead, go right toward the closed door to find this Tag.
Cog Tag 23
After sliding down in the water, kill the enemies at the bottom and then head toward the stairs that are off to the right. This Tag is on the right of those stairs.
Cog Tag 24
Progress through the chapter until you see the Corpser. After that, look to your immediate right to find this Tag laying over by the railing behind a destroyed truck.
Act IV Cog Tags ->
Act IV – The Long Road Home
Campus Grinder
Cog Tag 25
In the first combat area of the chapter, go up the small stairs on the right from where you enter. There will be staircases into doors along the right side of the area. This Tag is behind the second staircase on the right. If you go too far into this area after killing all of the enemies, the chapter will automatically progress.
Bad To Worse
Cog Tag 26
As soon as the chapter the starts, this Tag will be straight ahead and slightly to the right behind a damaged car.
Imaginary Place
Cog Tag 27
Make your way through the Fenix estate and you’ll eventually enter a room on the first floor where a desk will be straight ahead of you under a glass dome on the ceiling. Saw through the desk to find this Tag.
Act V Cog Tags ->
Act V – Desperation
Comedy of Errors
Cog Tag 28
Continue through the chapter until you are under a bridge with the Brumak walking above on the bridge. When you come out from under the bridge, there will be an open gate straight ahead of you. Go through the gate and go left to find this Tag next to an ammo crate.
Cog Tag 29
After exiting the theater, you’ll be in a parking garage. In the parking garage, you’ll enter a stairwell. The story path is up, but you’ll need to go down the stairs in order to find this Tag.
Jurassic Proportions
Cog Tag 30
This is picked up during the fight with the Brumak. From where you start, go to the back right corner on the opposite side of the area. There will be a door with the red Cog logo painted. This is just to the left of that logo behind a cement barricade.
Train Wreck
Cog Tag 31
While on the train, Jack will cut open a door while you deal with a Berserker. Go through the door that Jack cuts open and look to your immediate left to find this Tag.
Cog Tag 32
As you fight your way through the train, you’ll come to a car that has two chain guns mounted on top. Go in that car and this Tag can be found on the right side before climbing up the ladder.
Cog Tag 33
Progress through the train until you release the second set of tanks off the side of the train. After that, go forward and then enter the door of the car that the tanks were on. Head straight back and open the door inside of the train car to find the final Tag.
