DOOM Eternal: The Ancient Gods Part 1 Trophy and Achievement Guide

Welcome to the Trophy and Achievement guide for Doom Eternal’s first piece of downloadable content The Ancient Gods Part 1. There are three new chapters to explore here with seven new Trophies/Achievements to earn. Most of them are collectible focused, but there are not that many collectibles to find. This can be played standalone, but if you’ve played the base game, you’ll find that Trophies/Achievements are very similar to the base list.

Extra Life Mode is available immediately, so this list can be completed in one play-through if you’d like to get it all out of the way at once. It would be easier to split your play-throughs up into two though. One for all collectibles and the other for your Extra Life run. You’ll find yourself in more combat encounters when grabbing all of the needed collectibles, so that’ll increase your chances of dying.

Torrential Pain

Complete the UAC Atlantica Facility (Ancient Gods 1)

This is an unmissable story related Trophy/Achievement that will pop upon completion of the first chapter.

To Take a Life Sphere

Destroy the Life Sphere in the Blood Swamps (Ancient Gods 1)

This is an unmissable story related Trophy/Achievement that will pop upon completion of the second chapter.

Regime Change

Defeat Samur in the Holt (Ancient Gods 1)

This is an unmissable story related Trophy/Achievement.

1-Upmanship (Ancient Gods 1)

Complete Extra Life Mode with 5 Extra Lives in your Inventory (Ancient Gods 1)

This Extra Life Mode works the exact same way as in the base game. You’ll have to collect extra lives throughout the chapters and hold on to at least five by the very end. If you run out of lives, that will be a game over forcing you start back over at the beginning. You can of course make a back up save to send to an external hard drive or PS+ Cloud just in case you run out of lives. Also, Extra Life Mode isn’t a difficulty. If you’re having trouble, or think you may, you can set the difficulty to “I’m Too Young To Die” to make things easier on this mode.

Extra lives will show up on your map as green Doom Guy helmets when you are near them. You will begin the game with three lives. As you can see below, there are another 11 lives to be found. So, that’s 14 in total. Assuming you end up finding them all, you can die a maximum of nine times while still being able to finish the DLC with five extra lives. The locations of the extra lives are shown in the videos below with the other collectibles.

  • UAC Atlantica – 4 (3 Life locations, but one of them counts as 2 lives)
  • The Blood Swamps – 3
  • The Holt – 4 (3 Life locations, but one of them counts as 2 lives)

Lucky Charm Bracelet

Acquire all Support Runes in a single save slot (Ancient Gods 1)

See the Trophy/Achievement “Required Reading” for more details.

Hypersonic

Complete all Secret Encounters in a single save slot (Ancient Gods 1)

See the Trophy/Achievement “Required Reading” for more details.

 Required Reading

Collect all physical Codex pages in a single save slot (Ancient Gods 1)

Just like the base game Trophy and Achievement lists, Codex pages, Secret Encounters and Runes are required for Trophies and Achievements. Luckily, there are not that many to find in this DLC. There are only three chapters that you will need to search through. The collectibles will show up on the map as you get near them. If you happen to miss any, they can be picked up via Mission Select.

There are actually two ways to earn the three Support Runes for “Lucky Charm Bracelet.” In the first and third missions, the Runes are earned by completing the Slayer Gates. In the second mission, the Rune can be picked up without needing to complete a Slayer Gate. These are marked on your map as purple icons.

Secret Encounters are started by interacting with tree like objects. They will spawn a group of enemies that you will need to defeat within a set time limit. If you played the base game, you’re already familiar with these. These will be marked on your map as a ? until you get closer.

Just like in the base game, Codex pages are literal pages that can be found floating in somewhat hidden areas. These will be marked on your map as a ? until you get closer.
