The Contraptions Workshop DLC adds three Trophies/Achievements to Fallout 4. This DLC is only for settlement building. There are no new quests and none of these are missable.

You’re going to need a lot of materials for Mass Production, so this is best done later on in your play-through after you have looted a lot of junk. You can also buy shipments of materials from Myrna in Diamond City if needed. If you don’t want to use your resources for these, make a separate save and then reload it after you’ve done everything to get your materials back.

If you’re doing this late in your play-through, this will take about an hour or even less knock out.

Show Off

Display a weapon on a weapon rack, armor on an armor rack, and power armor in a power armor display

  • Weapon racks are found in settlement builder menu > Decorations > Display > Weapon Racks.

There are multiple weapon racks for different sized weapons. Build whichever one you’d like and then exit the build menu. Interact with the weapon rack you built and then transfer a weapon to it.

  • Armor racks are found in settlement builder menu > Decorations > Display > Armor Racks.

Build one and then interact with it to transfer over apparel to it. IN the transfer menu, tab over to the armor rack inventory and press to equip the armor to the display so that it shows.

  • Power armor displays are found in settlement builder menu > Decorations > Display > Power Armor. After that, build a small generator and connect it to the power armor display.

Take off your power armor in front of the rack and then interact with the rack to activate it. The power armor will then be displayed on the rack.

Once you have done all three, this will pop.

Mass Production

Produce 100 objects from your builders

First, you will need to build a builder. They can be found in the builder menu > Power > Manufacturing > Machinery. A builder costs 2 circuitry, 3 gears, 4 rubber, and 10 steel.

Build a the builder and then build a generator. Connect the builder to the generator. Then, build a terminal. These are found in the builder menu > Power > Miscellaneous. Connect the terminal to a generator and then connect the terminal to the builder.

The easiest thing to make are steel balls. These cost 5 steel each. So for this Trophy/Achievement, you’re going to need at least 500 steel in your settlement inventory. Go to your workshop bench and transfer all of the steel to your inventory. If you don’t have actual steel, you can transfer over junk that breaks down into steel. It’ll say in the middle of the screen what the piece of junk breaks down into.

Once you have the required amount of steel/junk, go over to the builder and transfer it all from your inventory to the builder. Then, go to the terminal and select steel balls. Begin making those. You only need to select it once. After that, you can just set the controller down and wait for the builder to pump out 100 steel balls. The builder will automatically keep making the steel balls until all of the steel that was transferred into the builder is gone. You can also feed the steel balls back into the builder and they will be reused.

Once it’s going, you just have to wait. There is nothing you can do to speed the builder up. Just sit by and wait for the Trophy/Achievement to pop.
