Chernobylite Trophy & Achievement Guide

chernobylite-DGG

Welcome the Trophy and Achievement guide for Chernobylite! The majority of this list is completion based. You will get a lot of this done by just playing through the story. Everything can be completed in a single playthrough, but there are some “missables” to be aware of as you play. I say “missables” because anything you miss can be reversed by changing your decisions in game. More on that below.

As previously mentioned, most of this list is mission completion based. But there are four Trophies/Achievements that are tied to investigations. For these, you need to find a series of clues in the zones. Some of these are story mission objectives, found like a collectible in the different zones or are tied to story decisions. If you’re missing any of these by the end of the game, you can go find them or kill yourself and reverse whatever decisions lead to you missing them. More on that in a minute.

The investigation boards have to be completed in order. You can find clues for all of the boards in any order you like, but you will not be able to run the simulation for a board until you run the one before it. So let’s say you have all of the clues for the Black Stalker and Web of Lies boards, but you don’t have all the clues for Conspiracy. You will not be able to run the simulations of Black Stalker and Web of Lies until you have collected all of the clues and run the simulation for Conspiracy first. The Trophies and Achievements tied to those boards will pop when the simulation ends.

There are no difficulty related Trophies and Achievements. You can play on any difficulty you like.

Building a Team

As you play, you’ll be recruiting a few NPCs to join your team and they will have their own set of missions that need to be completed. You’ll have to play this carefully as some can end up not joining you.

There is a sort of karma system in Chernobylite and almost every decision will positively impact one character and negatively impact another.  You will have a relationship with each character and if it gets too bad, it’s possible they can leave your group. In addition to mission decisions, the state of your base will also factor in to their happiness. Be sure to scavenge as much as you can during missions so that you will have all the materials you need to craft items at your base to keep your team happy.

You can send your teammates out on story missions, but they cannot be completed this way. If you send a teammate on a story mission, they will thin out some enemy numbers and get resources for you. You will still have to complete the mission yourself.

Chernobylite’s Structure

Chernobylite works a little different than other games. The game is broken up into days and you can play one mission per day. These are in game days, not real life days.

You’ll be stationed at your base. Here, you can assign teammates and yourself to missions. When you’ve completed a mission and it is over, you can continue exploring the zone or you can return to your base. When you get back, you’ll be able to interact with your team, craft items, get upgrades for yourself and weapons or build stuff for your base. When you’re ready to do another mission, you’ll have to go to your room and sleep.

When you wake up, it will be the next day and you’ll be able to do another mission. In terms of the story, every day when you wake up either a teammate will speak to you giving you the next story mission or you’ll be contacted via the radio. Story missions will be marked with a red icon in the list. This might sound like there is a timer on the story, but there isn’t. If you do a side mission, it will also take up a day. Whatever story mission you had pending will still be there the next in game day. They just get pushed until the next day until you complete it.

Death Can Be a New Beginning

Now, I know I previously said there are missables, but there is actually a mechanic in the game that will allow you to go back and change certain decisions. So, things can be missed but it is possible for to you go back and reverse the decision.

When you die in Chernobylite, you will be taken to the timeline of your decisions. The game will lay out every key decision you have made leading up to where you currently are in the story. You will have the option to change the decisions here. The game will lay out what you chose, who it impacted and what reversing it will do.

If you manage to survive until day 10 without dying, the game will auto kill you forcing you to learn this mechanic. Your first death will have no penalties. Every death after that will then take random items out of your inventory. There are a couple of ways to do this. First, you can build the Radiation Chamber in your base. You can use this to kill yourself without penalty. If you don’t have this yet, take items you don’t want to risk losing and store them in a container in your base before heading out. Run into an area with high radiation levels and stand there until it kills you. If you let NAR soldiers kill you, they’ll just take you to prison instead.

Changing Decisions

Changing decisions will cost Chernobylite. These can be found while exploring the different areas or they can be crafted at your base using the Chernobylite Synthesizer work station.

Press the TouchPad/View to open up the base crafting menu. Then, go to Igor’s Inventory > Crafting > Chernobylite Synthesizer.

In order to complete the board, you will need to find 7 pieces of evidence. These are found through out the various areas and can be mission objectives. These will also show up highlighted in green when using the search function (L2/LT) of the Environmental Analyzer.

After you have all of the facts, you will need to then go back to your room and run a simulation (interact with the board and press R2/RT) of the completed board. The Trophy/Achievement will pop when the simulation ends and you are back in your room. Also, the simulations for each board cannot be completed until the board before it is finished. The simulations have to be done in the order they are listed.

Some of the clues are tied to making certain choices in story missions. As detailed in the intro above, If you happen to miss them, they can still be acquired by changing your decision after killing yourself.

Facts will be automatically acquired by completing the story missions. It is possible to run the simulations with just the facts and not all of the clues, but if you need clues or just want them all, a clue guide can be found below.

The evidence below will be numbered by the order they are in on the board.

1. This is found as a mission objective in “Old Documents.” Be sure to disarm the trap by interacting with the box on the wall to the left before approaching the safe.

If you keep him locked and tell Olga, she will not join you.

If you kill him or refuse to let him out, you can choose to not tell Olga. This will bring negative points toward Mikhail and Tarakan, but you will be able to ask her to join you.

Personally, I chose to let him go and freed him from the cell.
