Hot Shots Golf Trophy Guide

Welcome to the Hot Shots Trophy guide! This PS1 classic comes with 18 Trophies to earn. This is a mostly easy list to complete outside of two Trophies. With the rewind feature, this list becomes much easier.

  • 4/10 Estimated Difficulty
  • 8-10 Estimated Hours to Platinum
  • 8 VS. Playthroughs for Characters With Additional Rounds for Courses

Fortunately, none of these can be missed. In terms of a playthrough, you’ll need to play against every CPU opponent and beat them in order to unlock them. There are eight characters to unlock, so that’s going to be eight matches at least. While you’re beating the opponents, you’ll also be earning experience points. Those points will be needed in order to unlock the different courses. You won’t have to spend them or anything like that, The courses will be automatically unlocked when hit the required amount of points.

Mulligan

There is a new rewind feature for the PS1 Classics. This is not game specific thing, but a system feature. If you want to retry a shot, you can press the Options button and scrub through your gameplay and choose where you want to start from. Using this feature pretty much breaks the game as it’s basically an infinite amount retries, but it will be especially helpful when shooting for an albatross and hole in one.

 Nothing Can Stop Me

Get a hole in one in the mini golf game.

Choose “Mini Golf” from the Main Menu. This can easily be earned on the second level of Mini Golf.

Aim your shot to the right of the flag to compensate for the hill in the middle of the course. Stop the shot power at 50.

If you miss the shot, press Options and rewind to try again. Make sure to use your previous shot as a guide on where you need to adjust your aim.

Was It a Crow or a Raven?

Get a birdie.

In order to get a birdie, you will need to finish the hole with 1 less stroke than par. So, if the hole is a par 4, you will need to finish the hole in 3 strokes.

This is something that you’ll likely get fairly easily. If not, you can always use the rewind feature to prefect your shots.

Hopefully It Wasn’t a Bald Eagle

Get an eagle.

In order to get an eagle, you will need to finish the hole with 2 less strokes than par. So, if the hole is a par 5, you will need to finish the hole in 3 strokes.

If you’re struggling with this, you can always use the rewind feature to prefect your shots.

I Thought Albatross Were Only in the Ocean

Get an albatross.

In order to get an albatross, you will need to finish a par 5 hole in only two strokes. This one is going to be a real challenge.

It can be done on any par 5, but I was able to pull this off on hole 7 of the Fujiyama Country Club (3) course using Iceman. It is also possible to get this in the Training mode. You can cycle through the holes to jump to the one you want. You can also adjust the wind speed and wind direction by pressing Select in the Training game mode.

For your first shot, you’re going to want to get as close to the green as you can while staying on the fairway. You’ll need to stay out of the rough. Hitting out of the rough is going to really alter your shot. If you land in the rough, use the rewind feature to try again.

For your second shot, you need to make it in the hole from here. This is going to be a lot of trial and error via the rewind feature from this point.

Take a few shots to gauge where you are and where you need to adjust. Play with the different clubs to gauge distance, try different places on the power meter and see how the weather alter your shot. If you’re in Training, you can press Select and alter the speed and direction of the wind. In my case, the ball was coming up just short, but turning the wind on at 2m toward the hole was enough to make up the distance difference and helped push the ball into the hole. Obviously, everyone will have different scenarios, but it’s just an example of what can help.

If you press Options it’ll create a rewind point. So as you get closer to honing in your shot and are feeling good about your aim and distance, make sure to press Options. This way you’ll have a rewind point where you’ll only need to make minor adjustments if needed.

 Holey Smokes!

Get a hole in one on a regular course.

For this, you’re going to need to finish the hole in one shot. This can be done on any par 3 hole. I was able to get this done on the 13th hole on the Fujiyama Country Club  (3) course with Iceman.

This is going to be just like getting an albatross. A lot of trial and error via the rewind feature.

Take a few shots to gauge where you are and where you need to adjust. Play with the different clubs to gauge distance, try different places on the power meter and see how the weather alter your shot. If you’re in Training, you can press Select and alter the speed and direction of the wind.

If you press Options it’ll create a rewind point. So as you get closer to honing in your shot and are feeling good about your aim and distance, make sure to press Options. This way you’ll have a rewind point where you’ll only need to make minor adjustments if needed.

Since the hole in one starts from the same point for everyone, here was my setup for when I hit it. You may need to slightly adjust and it’ll likely take a few tries in order to get the power bar right, but the course settings were set to easy and the tee from the front.
