Welcome to the Pokemon Scarlet & Violet walkthrough! Scarlet and Violet will have you exploring the Paldea region while completing quests all over the new region.
There will be three different quests that the game will have you doing. After completing the opening prologue, all three of the quests will be available right away. You can knock them out in whatever order you’d like to, but there is no level scaling, so it is possible to end up in a high level area while being under leveled. So the order of this guide will be based around the recommended levels for each part of the questlines. As your party levels increase, we will be jumping around from quest to quest.

First Day of School
As you first begin the game, you’ll have the option to customize your character. Customize your character however you’d like and then continue.
The first actual gameplay will begin with you sitting at your desk. Move the left stick to get up
Take control of your character and go downstairs to the kitchen to speak with Mom. As you’re speaking with her, the doorbell will ring. Go answer it and you’ll be introduced to Clavell, the director of Naranja Academy.
After speaking to him, go upstairs and grab your bag off of your bed. Get your stuff and go back downstairs. Speak with Clavell and he’ll tell you to follow him outside. Here, you’ll be introduced to the starting Pokemon. You’ll also receive the Rotom Phone.
You’ll get a small time to walk around with the three starters before deciding who to choose. If you go to the right side of your house, you can find an Antidote behind the bushes.
After that, go directly behind your house to find a Potion as well.
When you’re ready, head down the path to the big house straight ahead.
Before going up the stairs, look to your left to see a Poke Ball behind a tree in the corner. Head up the stairs to meet with Nemona and Clavell. It’ll also be time to choose a starter.
Make your choice between
- The grass type Sprigatito
- The water type Quaxly
- The fire type Fuecoco
After you make your choice, Nemona will choose her starter. She will take the Pokemon that is weakest against the one you choose. If you take Fuecoco, she’ll take Sprigatito, for example.
Your next objective will be to battle Nemona down by the beach.
Private Beach
Before heading down to the beach, go to the left side of the house to find a Potion next to a table. There is an Antidote nearby along the back of the house as well. Go back around to head for the beach and there will be another Potion to the right of the stairs that lead you to the beach.
When you get to the beach, go to the right side to find a Poke Ball. Then, head to the left side of the beach to find another Potion behind a rock. On your way toward Nemona from the previous Potion, you’ll notice a path to the right.
Go down this path to find a Poke Ball. With all the items collected, you can now go battle Nemona.
Nemona chose the Pokemon that is weak to yours, so this battle will be quick and easy.
- Nemona
- Opposite Starter – Lv. 5
After the battle, you’ll receive the Pokédex app for your phone.
With all that taken care of, follow Nemona and she’ll teach you how to catch Pokemon. First, you’ll meet up with your Mom who will give you a Sandwich and 5 Potions.
When you reach Poco Path, Nemona will give you 5 Poke Balls.
A Lechonk will appear and you’ll be given the chance to catch your first Pokemon. Damage the Lechonk a bit and then throw a Poke Ball at it.
After catching the Lechonk, you’ll speak to Nemona again and she’ll give you another 10 Poke Balls. She’ll also ask you to meet her at the Lighthouse.
The Lighthouse
As you follow the path to the Lighthouse, you can catch Pokemon and find a lot of items along the way. The items are not particularly well hidden. The are on the right and left sides of the path in the grass. They basically line the path toward the Lighthouse.
You can find the following items along the path:
- Poke Ball X2
- Rare Candy
- Potion X5
- Super Potion
- Antidote
- Revive X3
- Paralyze Heal
- Ether X2
You can also catch the following Pokemon along your way:
- Lechonk
- Scatterbug
- Hoppip
- Pawmi
- Tarountula
- Yungoos
- Houndour
As you approach the Lighthouse, Nemona will approach you and your conversation will be interrupted by a Mysterious Cry. Go through the opening in the fence near Nemona and follow the path.
You’ll hear another cry and see a Pokemon down on the beach.
Approach the Pokemon and give it the Sandwich you received earlier to help it. The Pokemon will get up and walk into the cave ahead of you. Follow it through the cave. This cave is called Inlet Grotto.
Be sure to pick up the items on the way through.
- Potion X2
- Poke Ball X2
- Revive
You can also catch the following Pokemon on this pass through Inlet Grotto:
- Yungoos
- Diglett
Continue following the Pokemon and you will eventually be attacked by a Lv. 40 Houndoom. Obviously, you don’t stand a chance at this point of the game. The mysterious Pokemon will come to your rescue and save you. A short scene will then play out and you’ll end up getting Nemona’s number as well as TM 32 – Swift. After the scene, you can then head for the Lighthouse.
As you approach the Lighthouse, you’ll meet Arven. He’ll want to battle you.
Arven
- Skwovet – Lv. 5
- Weak to Fighting
After beating him, he will give you the Poke Ball for the Pokemon that you have been following up to this point. It will be Koraiden/Miraidon. Depending on the version you’re playing.
After the battle, go behind the Lighthouse to find a Revive. Enter the Lighthouse and meet Nemona at the top.
After speaking with her, it’ll be time to head to Los Platos. You can see it from the top of Lighthouse.
As you make your way toward the Los Platos, the area opens up a bit. You can catch some Pokemon, battle trainers and find some items. It’s a pretty big area, so take some time to look around a bit.

Los Platos
Here you’ll learn about the Pokemon Centers, League Points (LP) and how to craft TMs.
Your next objective will be to go to Mesagoza, but take some time to explore Los Platos. There are items to find, trainers to battle and Pokemon to catch.
When you’re ready to go, head north and you’ll enter the South Province (Area One). Explore the area. The items are very easy to see as they have a bright red and yellow streak coming off of them and they are out in the open.
In addition to the Pokemon already listed above, you can find a few different ones out here.
- Shroodle
- Bonsly

He will task you with battling four trainers out in the South Province. If you’ve already beaten at least four, you’ll be given the reward immediately. The reward is Thunder Wave.
Collect your reward and heal up your Pokemon. When you’re ready, head to Mesagoza where you’ll once again meet up with Nemona. It will be time for another battle against her.
Nemona
- Starter Lv. 8
- Pawmi Lv. 9
- Weak to Ground
During the battle you’ll be introduced to Terrastallizing Pokemon while in a battle. Afterwards, she’ll give you three Revives.
A short scene will play and you’ll automatically enter Mesagoza.
When you regain control, you’ll be able to explore the city before heading to the objective, if you’d like. There are a lot of shops that offer battle items, food and character customization here in Mesagoza. Check out the stores and head to the school stairs when you’re ready.
When you reach the school, you’ll meet Team Star Grunts. It’ll be time for a couple of battles now.
- Team Star Grunt
- Shroodle Lv. 8
After beating the first Team Star Grunt, Nemona will come down and find out what’s going on. She’ll give you the Tera Orb which will allow you to Terastallize Pokemon during battle.
Now, you’ll be able to test it out on the other Team Star Grunt.
- Team Star Grunt
- Yungoos Lv. 9
After the battle, head up the stairs and enter the school.
Naranja/Uva Academy
You’ll automatically be introduced to your class where you can answer a few questions from your classmates. Afterwards, you’ll be able to explore the class and school. Speak to the other kids in class and then leave the room.
You can find Nemona in the Staff room. Go there and speak with her. She will explain the Champion Rank and how to obtain it. This is similar to the previous Pokemon games where you’ll be taking on eight Gym Leaders and then the Pokemon League. She will mark the locations of the Gyms on your map for you. This is the Victory Road questline.
After that, leave the Staff room and head to the Cafeteria to speak with Arven. He will give you the Path of Legends questline. You’ll be tasked with finding five different types of Herba Mystica. He’ll also explain that these are guarded by Titan Pokemon. Arven will also mark these locations on your map.
As you go to leave the cafeteria, your phone will ring. You’ll meet Cassiopeia now.
She’ll talk to you about helping to bring down Team Star. This is called Operation Starfall. After the call, Clavell will show up and speak to you about talking too loudly on your phone inside of school.
After leaving, you’ll be automatically called to the director’s office.
Before going there, you can speak with the woman at the desk and take some classes. Biology, Math and Battle Studies will be available to take. The classes will go over some basic information about the world of Pokemon and give you a chance to answer some questions.
Interact with the computer terminal next to the front desk and go to the Director’s Office and your conversation will be joined by Professor Sada/Turo.
The professor will want to speak to you about Koraiden/Miraidon. You’ll start to learn about Area Zero and discover that you can ride the Pokemon as well.
As you go to leave the office, Nemona will once again appear. She’ll show you to your room. Interact with your bed to rest.
After sleeping, a few days will have gone by and it’ll be time to meet in the schoolyard where you’ll learn about the Treasure Hunt.
As you leave, you’ll be approached by Nemona who will explain a little more about what you’ll be doing on the Treasure Hunt. Arven will also join to remind you about his Titan Pokemon quest. Cassiopeia will call you as well to reiterate her questline to you. She’ll add the locations of five Team Star bosses to your map. This questline is called Starfall Street.
With all of that out of the way, the game will now fully open up and you’ll be able to start working on these quests. There are level requirements for the quests, so we’ll start out at the lowest one.
Great walkthrough, the only part i had a somewhat difficult time with is going vs gym leader Larry in the elite 4. I ended up defeating the majority of the elite 4 only to be defeated by Larry.
