Before you can take on the final quest, The Way Home, you will need to have completed the Victory Road, Operation Starfall and Path of Legends.

With all three of the main story quests now completed, you can now take on the very last quest. Arven will contact you and tell you to meet him in order to enter Area Zero.

The Way Home

To begin, fly to Medali. Exit the town through the back exit to the southeast. Arven will have marked the objective location on your map.

Just follow the path and it’ll lead you right to the entrance of Area Zero.

Near the entrance will be a trainer you can battle.

• Isaac the Scientist

Enter the tunnel to find Arven waiting for you.

You and Arven will enter Zero Gate where you will be joined by Nemona and Penny. After the cutscene, enter the elevator on the right.

Another cutscene will play where you all will ride Koraiden/Miraidon down to the bottom.

The goal will be to reach Professor Sada / Turo (depending on your version). But in order to reach them, you will need to unlock four locks at four research stations in Area Zero.

Research Station 1

From where you start, go to the left and follow the path down.

Follow the path down and you’ll come stream of water. Cross it and keep going.

As you approach the station, you’ll then be attacked by a Lv. 62 Glimmora. Glimmora is weak to Psychic, Water, Ground and Steel. You won’t be able to catch this one, so just beat.

After the battle, enter the station.

Interact with computer console to disable your first lock. Rest up on the bed to heal your Pokemon, and then move on to the second research station.

Research Station 2

Exit the first research station and continue heading down the path.

Pokemon Available:

• Copperajah
• Donphan

Items Available:

• Full Restore
• Thunder Wave TM
• Max Ether
• Hyper Potion
• Max Potion
• Quiet Mint

Follow the path and you’ll come to a ledge. You’ll need to use the dirt slope to slide down in order to reach the bottom.

As soon as you reach the bottom, the next research station will be in sight. Head for it and you’ll be attacked by a Pokemon that will depend on the version you’re playing. Both will be Lv. 62

• Scarlet – Scream Tail
  • Weak to Steel, Ghost Poison

• Violet – Iron Bundle
  • Weak to Grass, Electric, Fighting, Rock

Penny will help you battle this one.

After the battle, head into the research station.

Interact with computer console to disable the second lock. Rest up on the bed to heal your Pokemon, and then move on to the third research station.

Research Station 3

Exit the station and go right to keep heading down the path.

Pokemon Available:

• Golduck
• Masquerain
• Bisharp
• Espeon
• Volcarona

Items Available:

• Elixer
• Guard Spec
• PP Up
• Aerial Ace TM
• Mild Mint
• Heal Ball
• Elixer

Continue heading down the path and you’ll come to a big waterfall on your right. Keep going straight under the big rocks ahead of you.

As you approach the third base, you’ll be attacked by a Pokemon that will depend on the version you’re playing. Both will be Lv. 62. Arven will help you out in this battle.

• Scarlet – Great Tusk
  • Weak to Water, Grass, Fairy, Psychic, Flying, Ice

• Violet – Iron Treads
  • Weak to Fire, Water, Ground, Fighting

Enter the station after the battle and interact with computer console to disable the third lock. Rest up on the bed to heal your Pokemon, and then move on to the fourth research station.

Research Station 4

Exit the station and enter the big cave straight ahead of you.

• Dunsparce
• Scream Tail / Iron Bundle
• Dudunsparce
• Glimmora
• Gible
• Gabite
• Glimmet
• Espathra

Items Available

• Premier Ball
• Tera Blast

As you make your way through the cave, you’ll come to a cutscene where you’ll get an overhead view of the rest of the cave.

After the scene, keep making your way down into the cave toward the station. There will be a path that splits off the right. You won’t be able to reach the station by going right. Head straight to keep going lower.

You won’t be attacked by anything approaching this station. You can go right in and interact with the fourth console. Rest on the bed and keep going.

Zero Lab

Exit the lab and keep heading down into the cave.

Items Available:

• Electric Tera Shard
• Steel Tera Shard
• Fighting Tera Shard
• Shadow Ball TM

Pokemon Available:

• Flutter Mane / Iron Jugulis

You will eventually reach the bottom and Zero Lab.

Approach the lab and interact with the console to the left when you’re ready. You’ll be ambushed again. Depending on what version you’re playing, you’ll get different battles.

Scarlet

• Battle along side Nemona vs Great Tusk Lv. 64
• Battle along side Penny vs Brute Bonnet Lv. 64
• Battle along side Arven vs Flutter Mane Lv. 64

Violet

• Battle along side Nemona vs Iron Treads Lv. 64
• Battle along side Penny vs Iron Hands Lv. 64
• Battle along side Arven vs Iron Jugulis Lv. 64

After the battles, head into the Zero Lab to get some answers.

After the cutscene, you’ll be given the opportunity to heal your party and get whatever else you need ready for the final battle.

When you’re ready, head forward and interact with the Professor to ride the elevator.

When you get to the bottom, place the book in the center machine to kick things off.

Professor Sada

After the battle, the Professor will throw out a Koraiden/Miraidon, but you won’t be able to use your team. While in the battle, go to your Pokemon party and choose Koraiden/Miraidon.

It’ll transform into its battle form and you’ll be able to use it.

Keep the battle up until you can Terastallize your Pokemon. Make sure to use a potion if you need to during the battle. Terastallize and finish this battle off.

After that, you’ll see more cutscenes wrapping everything up. After the credits, go to the Director’s Office. You’ll receive a Master Ball.

And with that, you’ll have completed the game’s main story.  You can now battle the Gym Leaders again as well as fully explore Paldea to complete your Pokedex. Thank you for following along!
